You’ve not had any responses to this - suggest you re-post with a different heading actually asking the question.
By the way, what is a nuclear wire insertion?

in the meanwhile bumping (on sunset) this post…
Hi Tiffany, sorry I don’t understand the question. When is the procedure being done and what for?
The only wire insertion I have experience of was to identify the tumour on the morning of my WLE?
Hope someone can help soon.

hello tiffany apparently I am going to have a wire of sort inserted during my op, I understood its to get the lymph nodes, if that is of any help
Hi Im due to have a nuclear wire insertion on the 11th April just before surgery. I have been told it helps surgeon know where to go and if the cecil ( as I call it) has spread to lymph nodes. Scary stuff but Im just going with the experts. Jx
Hi tiffany, im due tohave this done 11th april at Marsden in sutton. Just before my surgery it apparently guides the surgeon and show the right bits to go to. Its meant to be VERY accurate. I found out on 8th march and its seems likes a year ago how are you coping. Ive been hopeless. J
Hello Butterfly52 & Tiffany01,
Perhaps this will help I had my first surgery 24th Feb and before that could take place I had the wire inserted because I had no visable lump. The BC was deep in my breast and so that the surgeon would know exactly where to remove the cancer. The wire has a little hook attached to it. I did not feel any discomfort as local was given. I also had a sentinel node scan prior to surgery to aid the procedure. They inject you with a very very small amount of radioactive material into your breast again I was given a local. The surgeon then carried out a WLE and injected a small amount of blue dye to guide him to the node. If you have the dye you will have a blue boob mine is not to bad I have a blue nipple which can last up to a year. Also after surgery you come out looking like a smurf for a day or two you pee blue cry blue tears, even when you blow your nose it’s blue. It was a bit alarming at first not so much for me as I was warned , but the HCA that was looking after me had never come across a bedpan of loo blue before. All in all the wire and radioactive procedures did not hurt I think having a mammogram was more painful. I hope this has helped good luck to you both. I will be thinking of you x
