Newly diagnosed

Hi all,

I have just been recently diagnosed with breast cancer stage 1 with no lymph nodes involvement.
Which they say is a positive. I’m so shocked at this and there is none of this in my family. I met with my team and they have said it’s likely my treatment plan will be chemotherapy, lumpectomy and radiotherapy. All this depends once they get my results from my MRI and CT scan which I’ve been booked in for. I’m so stressed out and worried. Is this the normal procedure? As I’ve read that some women do not having chemotherapy, they go straight to surgery.
Just a bit confused and anxious.
Any advice would be great pls. As my brain is overworking big time.

Hi Tash

It is a very anxious and confusing time and what you’re feeling is perfectly normal. You’re treatment plan is totally unique to you depending on your cancer.

Some have chemo first and others have surgery. It’s good that you are having an MRI because its the best type of x ray. They won’t be able to give you a treatment plan until that has been done. It may not seem like it, but it is good that there is no lymph node involvement because it means it hasn’t spread.

Waiting is the hardest part. Once the tests are done, your consultant will be able to give you the best advice going forward and be guided by what he says.

Best wishes xx

Thank you Sue for your reply. You’re right that the waiting is the hardest.
I’ve only met my team once and have lots of questions for them.
Best wishes xx

Hi Tash,
Welcome to the forum, although I’m sure you’d rather not be here, but there’s loads of support here from others at your stage as well as those of us further down the line.
The early days of diagnosis are difficult, we’ve all been there & it is a shock, so what you’re feeling is quite normal.
As Sue says, everyone’s diagnosis & treatment plan is unique to them, so please try not to worry about comparisons, your team will explain it all.
Although it’s stressful, it is good you are having the scans as this will ensure you get the best treatment plan for you.
Do come & chat whenever you need to & do look at the other threads such as ‘going through treatment’ so that you can chat to others going through similar.

It maybe a good idea to right those questions down. I always forget and regret it later xx

Thank you all.
Will definitely look into those other chat rooms.
Have already written down some questions before I forget as I go blank on the day of the appointments.

Hi Tasha, I’m celebrating the fact that you’re stage 1 and with no lymph node involvement. This is a hard time for you, but don’t forget that there are many others like you. Just to reassure you that BC is very treatable, and success rates are excellent. You don’t say, or perhaps you don’t know what type and size the tumour is. This will have a direct bearing on your treatment . As has already been mentioned, everyone is different, even if the diagnosis appears the same. Your treatment will be tailored to you . Wishing you the very best for what is to come. Stay strong. X

Hi all,

They haven’t told me the what type it is or what the size is.
When all the scans and results are back I have a meeting with my consultant to go through my treatment plan.
Hope it all goes well Gail. X

Hi all thought I’d join the forum as like many ladies on here I’m feeling a bit shocked and worried about my newly diagnosed stage 2 lobular breast cancer and waiting for my mri scan Fri the 16th it’s been such a strange and confusing time I go from I’m perfectly fine to freezing with terror everyone around me cries I just feel so fatigued at the minute xx

hi flutter,
Sorry to see you’re joining is, but as Helena says, there is loads of support here from those of ius wherebyoibare now & further down the line.
Although its a scary time, please be assured that with an early stage diagnosis bc is very treatable with excellent outcomes, so it may help if others around you feel more reassured so that they can support you better.
Do come & chat whenever you want or need to.
