NHS Flexible worker and sickness

I am a flexi worker for NHS a Does anyone know what the sickness status is? Is it just the same as normal working agencies? I can take the time off but think I will try to find a new job after mastectomy - rock and hard place? I am on my own and all this financial pressure of bills etc., is getting me down now as I have always worked and earned my own money.

If anyone can hlep?

Hi

Have you made a claim for the new sickness benefit yet… employment and support allowance…which has taken over from the old incapacity benefit. There is a thread on the forums about this benefit and it.s problems… Seems they leave you alone until after chemo/13 weeks after claim and then you can be called for a medical assessment to ‘establish what you can do on a day to day basis’ regardless of your illness/diagnosis. Have a look at the benefit web sites that cover the new sickness benefit.

pollysue, many thanks - yes I have claimed but hate it as I want to work. I have checked out direct gov and have even sent in my certificate stating breast cancer but hate the mess that benefit people get you in.

I think I have just been too independent too long and now I need a bit of help am disappointed that I am to old, too late and that the MPs have taken all the money for themselves and I cant get a decent amount in order to live on fresh veg and fruit! ha

Thanks for the practical info and I am sure it will all get sorted out sooner rather than later. If they do leave you for a bit that would be helpful in order to recover in peace. Do you know if I am allowed to recuperate at my sisters in cornwall for any length of time?
thanks for the support.

You may find the info on that webpage helpful, it also gives links to the government websites and claim forms.
