NHS or private

Hi,

I have just been diagnosed with breast cancer and am currently under Bedford hospital’s breast clinic. I’m wondering if anyone has had a recent experience with them and how speedy they were. I have private medical insurance but I only got that for the family in the Covid aftermath to ensure we didn’t have to have long delays for NHS treatment. My understanding is that when it comes to cancer the NHS don’t hang around, but it’s day 2 of waiting for a call to book in an MRI scan and I’ve got ants in my pants already.

Does anyone have experience with the breast clinic at Bedford they can share?

Sincerely feel for anyone going through similar times. I’m positive most of the time but there’s no denying this sucks pretty hard.

Hello Loz,

So sorry you have found yourself in here, however we have all been there and now we are here for you,

Firstly, we all get very anxious, and angry when first getting diagnosed this is all very natural and want to move on with everything as fast as possible obviously having private healthcare will move you on faster but first of all I think you need to call your healthcare provider and ask them what you are covered for and then think about what road to go down as the diagnostics are very expensive hopefully he would be covered for all of this.

Wishing you lots of luck and happiness going forward, please let us know how you are getting on. Also remember to makes lots of notes, and take one day at a time.
