Niggling worry
Niggling worry I posted earlier about going for lump removal from scar tissue after being told that they were not happy with biopsy results. At the time they said that I would probably require radiotherapy.
I had a lumpectomy two years earlier and then three weeks later had to have a mastectomy as they could not get a clear margin. The cancer was a Grade 3 but no lymph nodes affected. Had 6 weeks chemo.
The consultant said that the lump was just fatty tissue and therefore non cancerous but I cannot get out of my mind that the biopsy showed up cancerous cells so where did the initial result come from? I am so confused about why the biopsy showed negative results.

you need to get to the bottom of this… Maddy -this sounds a bit confusing. Were they saying they weren’t happy with the biopsy of the lump from the scar tissue ? -and did you have radiotherapy following lumpectomy because my understanding is you can only have radio. once.I know biopsies can often show a mix of cells but frankly if I had been told there were cancerous cells there I would want it sorted out PDQ. Are you being treated in a centre of excellence and could you obtain a copy of your biopsy report. Is it possible for your BC nurse to go through it with you if access to Onc is difficult. Don’t worry needlessly -get answers and let us know how you get on. Good luck.

Cherryred Thank you for your reply.
I had a lumpectomy 2 years ago but they could not get clear margin so had a mastectomy and chemo. When they took a biopsy of the lump on the scar they were not happy with the result and said that they would remove the lump and would probably have radiotherapy. But the lump proved to be non malignant to my great relief and they are now going to investigate why the biopsy had shown cancerous cells. I am also confused with this and I am still waiting for them to get back to me.
