I had a lumpectomy and removal of two lymph nodes on Thursday. Last night I woke in a soaking wet bed and today am experiencing hot flushes. Is this normal ? I am 70 (young at heart) .
Are you on a hormone tablet like Letrozole? I’m going on 72 and have similar sweats but put it down to the hormone tablet I take daily. Hope this helps.
Hi Smak. I agree with Mary. I am a similar age and on Letrazole and also have a lot of hot flushes, especially in the hot weather.
No I’m not taking anything . They just started post op . Not so frequent today so fingers crossed they were temporary……till of course I start hormone therapy !!
We will see it through together, ![]()
We definitely will x
Hi smak
Thank you for posting about the hot flushes and night sweats you have experienced since your surgery on Thursday.
As @Mary_1 and @DeeBEE1982 both say hot flushes can be a common side effect of hormone therapy and many people contact us describing the describing the difficulties they are experiencing with menopausal symptoms due to breast cancer treatment.
However, as you have not yet started hormone therapy it is difficult to know what has caused your symptoms and it is a good idea to check your temperature and contact your breast care nurse. Your symptoms may be due to an infection, and they will be able to assess you and check your wound to see if antibiotics may be required.
