Hi Helena,
You may remember me from the past few years…ive been monitored closely due to clusters of multiplying/changing microcalcifications, subsequent quadrantectomy in January 2017, further core and vaccuum assisted biopsies November 2017…diagnosis of Lobular Neoplasia and continue with yearly monitoring unless changes beforehand.
Well, ive been getting a bit of pain in the same boob and today quite a painful nipple which i have never had before. Which whilst it hasnt alarmed me it has made me think whether it maybe a “change” that i should get checked out.
Is it normal to phone the breast clinic and ask for advice or just book to see my GP (no appointments until April) so would have to be a different one, or shall i just wait and see?
I cant see any visible changes and reading the info part of the website there is not much, if anything about nipple pain. Have you come across it through the what must be hundreds of women you take care of (so well!) here?
How are you progressing? x
Poppyfields
Of course I remember you xx
It is not something that I can help with as I know nothing at all about it, hopefully one of the other lovely ladies on here might be able to help. However, what I would say, for peace of mind, it would not do any harm to give the breast clinic a call tomorrow and see what they suggest. If they suggest you go to see your GP then you might need to be assertive when you ring and ask for an urgent appointment because of your concerns, so that you dont have to wait until April!!
I am doing well, life is back to normal albeit a different normal.
Let me know how you get on.

Hi Helena, I had my appointment yesterday. The consultant believes the changes are due to the surgery I had around 14 months ago. She spoke to the head radiologist about me having a mammogram to double check or a mri but the advice was not to have a mammogram until 6 months after the last one which was end October and that a mri would not show up the microcalcifications I have with the Lobular Neoplasia so they couldn’t see if there were changes with them.
So I’m going back in a couple of months for a mammogram and whatever else is needed.
She also talked to me about preventative options - tamoxifen or mastectomy and is referring me to family history for a full risk assessment and further discussion. So that’s food for thought.
Hace you had your appointment through yet?

Hi Helena,
How did your appointment go in April?

Hi, I’m so glad the mammogram was OK, must be a relief.
I’m dealing with flares of other problems but keep my head above water!
My next mammogram is 2nd week in June and I received the family history questionnaire a few weeks back and have completed and returned it.
I’ll l check in again during June and and I wish you well with the next test.
