Hi, all, I hope someone out there will be able to answer my query…
I had nipple reconstruction 11 days ago and dressings removed two days ago. My beloved surgeon was away so a junior member of his team saw me. The new nipple is black down one side and he suspects necrosis but I’m going back in a week for my surgeon to take a look. In the meantime, can anyone tell me what the implications are? If it becomes completely necrotic will it just drop off? Is there any chance it could spread to the reconstructed (silicone implant) breast? I hadn’t anticipated this problem and was rather rushed out the door so didn’t ask these questions. I’ve emailed my BCN but no reply after 2 days…
There doesn’t seem to be much info about this on the net generally but I know there will be lots of you out there who’ve had this experience!

Apologies for late reply but I have just seen your post. I had a nipple recon several months ago and the same thing happended to me. The necrosis was down one side of the nipple and eventually it did fall off. I am left with a small bump and in fact the two areas the skin was taken from are more prominent than the new nipple. I saw my PS yesterday and there is nothing that can be done. I hope that all will be well with you and let me know how you are progressing.
