Hi can anyone tell me how long after mastectomy with recon do you have to wait to get the nipple recon, no one has mentioned having a nipple recon. I had surgery on 26th march this year.Also what is the best type,ive been told they can use part of your other nipple or skin from inside your thigh any advice would be great as i have an appointment at hospital with my breast surgeon. julie

I am waiting for a date for my nipple recon. I had a bilateral mastectomy with immediate recon (implants) in May. I could have had the nipples done in November but chose to wait till after Christmas, to give myself a break from surgery/hospitals.I have been told they will use the existing skin on my breasts.Once the new nipple has settled they will tattoo the outer area and tattoo the nipple a slightly darker colour. A friend of mine knows someone who’s had this done and she said it looks really good. Theresa

I had my expander swaped for an implant in June this year, at the same time I got my new nipple. It was not taken from anywhere! but beautifully made from what my OPS had available. I am on the waiting list for a tattoo.

hi…iv just had an uplift on old saggy boob and a nipple made from the tummy fat that makes my new boob!!had it done on wednesday with a days bed rest and night in.It feels very tiny under all the tape,cant wait to see it.The tattoe will be my last BC stage after 13 yrs,so yippee and fingers crossed all is well.Best wishes for your nipple,Deb x
