Hello. I am about to go to hospital to have my very uncomfortable port removed and nipple reconstruction. Is there anyone out there who could tell me what to expect and also how quickly i will be able to drive. I should be getting used to ops as this is my fourth but the nerves are kicking in already! Many thanks. Jacky
Hi Jacky
I have recently been in hospital to have my port removed also nipple reconstruction and after three operations myself it is not as bad as you expect. I had a local aneasthetic and the finished results were quite good, was a bit sore for a couple of days and did not drive for about a week after, as soon as you feel comfortable yourself. Keep you chin up you will be fine.

Hi, had my port removed under local, was sore for a couple of days and drove the day after, took 20mins! Good luck. X
Hi Ladies,
I had my nipple recon on the 1st June. The surgeon put in some local but I have absolutely no feeling in the recon so I didn’t really need it but he thought he should use some “just in case”. Put the dressing on and I was driving 2 days later.
I only felt like someone had leant on my chest for the day of surgery, went with paracetamol but the dressings were the worst as I have become so allergic to everything, that they couldn’t use waterproof ones - so no showers for 10 days. Was naughty and had shallow baths and was really careful as I couldn’t be smelly for that length of time!!!
Am waiting for revision surgery to unaffected breast and some lipo for scar contour improvement - post diep before I can have my nipple tattoo - I really can’t bear this awful waiting, want it all done NOW!
Do hope all goes well, will be thinking of you.
Regards,
Maggie (Marjay) xxxxx
Hi ladies, I had my operation yesterday under general anaesthetic, and compared to the ops i have had, this one was very easy. I have no pain in the new nipple and only slight discomfort from when the port was removed.
Cant wait to see the end result when the dressings come off in two weeks time.
Thanks again for all of your replies, hope you are well xx
