Hello, I have therapeutic mammoplasty 3 weeks ago and 5 nodes removed.
Yesterday I had another surgery to removed a little more for clearance - about 2 inch incision but no dressings (dissolvable stitches).
I had only washed my compression bra at 40° and it had been on my bed and in my bag and I wore it all day before the operation - is this ok?
I didn’t realise as I couldn’t see under my breast when the nurse helped me put my bra on.
Should I put a clean dressing and savlon on it?

Hello @big , the mammoplasty went very well thank you, the Pico dressings plus wedge pillows really helped and am healing - are you having chemo first?
If they have not put anything on it and it is dry / not leaking then it won’t need anything on . For small wounds where stitches are under the skin surgeons sometimes use skin glue which is like a clear hard film which eventually degrades ( over weeks ) to seal the skin in which case no dressings are needed which might be the case here . If you have been given a number to ring for advice you could ask or if you have a written discharge summary it may be recorded on that . You could also ask your BCN who would know what is on it .
Re your bra - that should be ok next to your skin . 40 degrees would be high enough to kill bugs I think if you want to rewash it first though not necessary . My machine advises me to do a drum clean only if I’ve washed at 30 . If you want a bit of padding between your skin and the bra or still feel like you need a dressing then any Chemist should have a dry non- adherent dressing that your bra would keep in place don’t put anything sticky or any cream on it . Xx

After breast surgery it’s important to follow any instructions that your surgeon and treatment team have given.
As your surgery was only 3 days ago it’s best to contact your treatment team and check how and when you should start to wear your compression bra and for any advice about the surgical area and dressings.
It wouldn’t normally be advised to apply savlon to the area unless your treatment team agree for this.
Most people do recover well from breast surgery with few major side effects but it is important to report any concerns or symptoms you may have to your breast care team.
