No happy with treatment and test

My dear friends,

I am more than just furious; I am absolutely incensed, seething with indignation and outrage.

I had requested Prosigna or Oncotype Dx, along with Ki-67 expression, after surgery from the pathologist’s laboratory. However, the breast cancer team from Saint Bartholomew’s has just informed me that they are not considering any of these tests for me. Their reason? Apparently, these are not standard treatments. Is this for real? Is this some sort of distasteful joke? What sort of nonsensical explanation is this?

I have conducted research on Prosigna via the internet and find that I fully meet the criteria. I am experiencing a recurrence, and I have no wish for a third one simply because the appropriate test hasn’t been employed to thoroughly assess my tumor and determine treatment.

My confidence in the hospital’s ability to provide adequate care for me has been completely eroded. While the nursing staff has been exemplary, that is as far as my commendation will go.

I deeply regret not returning to my home country immediately after my diagnosis to undergo the entire treatment there, where Ki-67 is commonly used in the National Health Service.

Yours fully

A burning in hell ex-happy nipple

Hi,

The criteria for additional tests are very odd.

I was told no point in doing any genomic tests as i was over 50 and had no children.

My cancer came back (against the odds of the oncotest, and not in a surgically treatable way).

Same story…
