Hey
I had my first diagnosis yesterday at the one stop clinic, I had scans and biopsies of three lumps in my left breast. She scanned my armpit too, to check for any changes and she said it appeared clear.
Drs were fairly positive and said it’s treatable with surgery and I’ll know more once my biopsies have been discussed on Tuesday. I’m seeing the drs again on Friday so a week today.
My question is, is there still a chance of the cancer spreading elsewhere when it doesn’t appear present in lymph nodes? I should have asked yesterday but was in too much of a daze.
Thank you xo
I can only comment from my own experience. I have metastatic TNBC, I had a small breast tumour and no lymph node involvement. I did however have vascular invasion at the tumour site, and cancer cells travelled to my liver through the blood stream.
Hi chloeel85
Thank you for your post.
Theres a lot to take in when you are diagnosed with breast cancer. It is understandable that you felt in a daze and did not ask everything at the time.
At your follow up appointment next week you will be able to ask the questions about your diagnosis that are important to you at this time including your worry about the risk of breast cancer spread. It may be helpful to write a list beforehand to take with you. Some people find it helpful to take someone with you to the appointment for support and to help take in the information you’re given.
It sounds reassuring your team were positive about treatment and that the scan of your armpit appeared clear. Your treatment team will discuss any results and advice for treatment with you normally after an MDT meeting to ensure you are given the best information and treatment options for your diagnosis.
You may find our information helpful on coping emotionally after a diagnosis of breast cancer.
