Node on lung

I had mastectomy in nov 14 & after surgery had CT scan whole body. I had grade 2 cancer, 11 lymph nodes removed, 2 positive
They told me that there were nodes on my lungs but they didn’t know what they were and I would be scanned in 12months. Couldn’t have chemo or radiotherapy because of having heart disease. I have now been told that I need a CTscan of my chest to check the one node that showed on my last scan but not to worry. I know it good to be checked but I feel frightened to death again now after just seeming to be getting there. Has anyone else had this same situation? Know I am probably worrying for nothing but this illness seems to make you like that. Thanks for reading. All the very best to everyone going through there own problems

I was diagnosed with a large grade 3 tumour last summer and went down the route of chemo first then surgery. Before starting chemo I had a ct scan which showed a small nodule on my left lung so like you was told I would need to be rescanned later. They did this after I’d had 4 cycles of chemo and it was still there. However, on the basis that the treatment was having an amazing effect on the tumour as it was shrinking rapidly, and the nodule hadn’t changed one bit, they were happy to assume that it was just scarring or one of those things.

Ct scans are so accurate and can pick up nodules down to only a couple of mm In size. I’ve read that if you scanned a room full of people you would find innocent nodules and scars in a lot of them.

Hopefully the team are just being thorough by rechecking and like me, you will be ok

The only difference is my nodes were clear (I didn’t know that at the time as hadn’t had surgery) but with both the tumour and nodule being on my left side I wasn’t naturally worried.

I hope everything turns out ok for you too

Hi Missbabs,

I had WLE and lymph node clearance (also 2 positive) last May.  Had had CT scan which also showed a nodule on lung.  I had chemo and rads after surgery (finished November), then follow-up scan to check lung nodule in December.  Fortunately, there was no change in the lung so my oncologist seemed happy with that, that it was probs scarring or similar but nothing sinister.

It is horrible waiting as all sorts goes through your mind.  A few months down the line and I realise I had actually forgotten about the nodule on my lung until I read your post!

Hope you don’t have to wait too long for results & get a similar positive result.

Take care x

Hi ladies, I had the same. I had a ct scan for abdomen as had bloating and results were diverticular disease and it picked up a very tiny nodule on left lung and was told would rescan in 6 months, but they weren’t worried as most of the nation have them. Think one of our ladies also mentioned this. This was before I  was diagnosed with bc so you can imagine I though OMG, it’s spread! When I saw the surgeon before surgery I mentioned it to him and he was brilliant. He called the images up and we could see this tiny mark. He said not too worry but arranged for another ct scan which I had 4 weeks after my breast surgery. My onc ran through the results and advised all ok. So, it seems this really is a common thing, but of course always get checked. Always good to talk, lol xxxxxxx

Thanks for your reassurance. Should get results 1st May and will let you all know. Good to be able to talk to someone. Can’t seem to get the thoughts of cancer out of my head. Even though I have had heart disease since I was 30, and I’m now 67, and have had loads of scares
in my life with that, this is much worse. I don’t seem to be able to plan anything and my husband is so supportive. Feel all soppy and weepy again. Lol. XX

Hope you are feeling better, it’s good to let it out but I do know how you feel. I have been very positive and yet sometimes I could just scream and run and run. We have to be strong and take advice and treatment offered to us and when I look around the oncology department I do feel protection. I have met some very positive and happy people and some of the stories are scary, but we must carry on. If you need to let of steam come on here and we will help all we can. Keep in touch lol xxxxx

Had ct scan on chest & node not grown. They will tell me Friday when I need another scan. I am so relieved and can now go and enjoy our holiday. Thanks for listening. XX

Great news, just keep up with checks and it does help your mind set. Enjoy your holiday, relax xxxxx
