Nodules on lungs

Hi,
I had a unilateral mastectomy and reconstruction in May, and my last CT scan showed nodules on my lungs. No-one seemed particularly concerned, saying that it’s quite common and probably fine. I have another CT scan on Sunday to check. I just wondered if many other people have had this experience?
Thank you x

Hi. Yes I had this after being diagnosed with BC in January 2023. I have had 3 scans so far and another in February next year to check in it. Mine was around 3mm and I was worried too. Apparently it is common and it mine hasn’t changed again in February 2025 then there will be no need for anymore scans for me. Try not to worry x

Yes I had three small lung nodules. I was there for treated so secondary breast cancer. However after five months scans showed that the nodules had not changed so it was decided that they were probably benign. I stayed on the same chemo immunotherapy because it was working well but I was able to then have a mastectomy and lymph node removal.

Thank you both. Appreciate your responses and hope you’re both doing ok x

Hi, yes I had a nodule found after a CT following a BC diagnosis in Aug’22 it was monitored first after 3 months then 6 then 12 months and I’ve just had a final CT after 2 years and they are happy it’s benign as it’s not changed after all my treatment. These are very common and I was told probably about 50% of the population will have lung/liver nodules or cysts but unless they have a CT will never know about them. I hope that gives you some reassurance and I wish you all the best with your treatment, there is most definitely light at the end of the tunnel xxx

I’m glad I found this topic, as I was wondering whether I was alone in this experience of having tiny lung nodules monitored for 2 years via CT scans and my Oncologist not being concerned about them. I’ve had 4 CT scan’s over the past 18 months with the final one due in March next year. So far I’ve been told that they look stable (benign and could have always been present), and haven’t changed since they were originally observed when my first CT was done after one positive lymph node was identified when I had my SLNB. So it sounds like it’s not such a rare occurrence and there is such a thing as a benign lung nodule.

Glad I found this topic too as I had a shock recently when a nodule was found on my lung. They have decided it’s scarring from the 15 sessions of Radiotherapy I had last Nov. So just to make everyone aware that RT can scar/damage the lungs!!
