Hello, not sure I should be here as not diagnosed but wanted to ask how long I should wait for an appointment.
I had a chest scan for breathing difficulties, the consultant phoned me to say they weren’t to concerned about that and continue with my asthma medication as usual.
However, he said they noticed a nodule in my right breast and has referred me to the breast clinic. Also sending me for imaging on my liver, this was last Thursday and so far I’ve haven’t heard anything back or informed of any appointments for these things.
I have pain down my right side, aches and pain around my shoulders and under my right breast. So just wondering how long the process will take before I get seen. Thank you.
I haven’t read to much on the forum but just to say I’m very sorry for all that you are going through, I have experienced cancer within the family and I know how harsh the treatment can be.
Hi @ronnimary,
Firstly welcome to the forum, this forum is for absolutely anyone affected by breast cancer, whether that be someone waiting for results, going through diagnosis or even affected by someone else’s diagnosis. This is a very welcoming place and we will always do our best to answer your questions and offer support.
You can find some information on wait times here Cancer waiting times | Cancer Research UK
And we have information here about what you can expect to happen at the breast clinic What happens at a breast clinic appointment? | Breast Cancer Now
You might also find this section of the forum useful as there are many posts here from others going through something similar Have I got breast cancer? - Breast Cancer Now forum
While you wait, it may help to remember that most people who are referred to a breast clinic do not have breast cancer. It is totally normal to be anxious, so do rely on your support system and if you ever need to talk to someone our breast cancer nurses are only a phone call away on 0808 800 6000. Once again our helpline is for anyone at any stage of a breast cancer diagnosis or affected by someone else’s diagnosis so don’t feel like like they’re ‘not for you’.
We’re with you and I’m sending you all the absolute best,
Alice
Hello Ronnimary,
Welcome to the forum, we are all here for you. So sorry to read your post I do hope someone from the Breast cancer unit will be in touch with you very soon. Otherwise maybe give them a call to see when you lightly to be seen
Maybe have a notepad and pen to hand making notes as you go along throughout the day, so that when your appointment comes through you’ll be up and running with your questions. Take one day at a time at the moment (easy for me to say) when you’re feeling so anxious, look after yourself.
Fingers crossed for a good outcome wishing you well going forward with lots of health and happiness ahead.
Please keep posting and let us know how you’re getting on.
with the biggest hug Tili
Thank you for the information, I will have a read. I feel so unsure at the moment and I’m trying not to overthink it until I know more.
Thank you Tili,
I’m keeping it to myself until I know more and obviously hoping I don’t have to tell anybody anything. If I’m honest I’m more concerned about the pain in my side which I think is connected to the liver, so I think there will be something, but not sure what.
Thank you so much for your reply
