Not long until its the festive season and the drink drive campaign will begin.

Last week near where I live there was an awful accident. Joy riders who were high on drugs and been drinking knocked a guy over, and left him with dreadful injuries that killed him. It got me wondering what kind of people could do that to another person, and why do people get behind the wheel of a car under the influence of drink or drugs. A family has lost a father, son, husband and brother all for the sake of someone else’s is selfish act. Sorry just had to get it off my mind as its upset me a lot this week.

In a month or so, the annual drink driving campaign will come into force for the festive season. I wonder how much good it really does, and if people do take notice of the adverts on the TV etc.

Hi jules,
I know how you feel…last weekend a pedestrian was killed about 15 miles from where I live in a hit and run accident…the drivers weren’t young either…when caught…one was 69 and the other 70!

My son’s school friend was killed last year by a female drink driver in a hit and run too. I’m sorry I have no sympathy with people who drink and drive, not only do they put themselves at risk they put the lives of others at risk to…I also think the penalty for drink driving and causing death by drink driving is far too light…I think there should be a zero tolerance on drinking and driving…that way everybody knows that even one drink is one to many if they intend to drive.

my partner died in an RTA but what does this have to do with breast cancer?

Yes I would prefer Current issues and topics to be about breast cancer current issues…otherwise the boards will get overloaded. Isn’t that its purpose? I can rant for England on the world economy, Barack Obama, Gordon Brown., the war in Iraq and Afghanistan, let alone Fathers for Justice and the Daily Mail…but unless its to do with breast canecr I do it elsewhere.

The chit-chat forum would be a better place for this posting.

rjenr2 and jane,

Respect your comments and have requested this is moved.

I think maybe it would be better under chit chat.

karen

Karen, thats terrible how old was the child. And what happened to the driver, I hope he got a prison sentence.

Jules.

I was hit by a taxi and have also had breast cancer (the driver whilie not drunk was fined for speeding)

Hi forum members

I am gong to close this thread as it is not relevant to our forums

Please stick to discussing issues about breast cancer as this is what these forums are here for.

I hope you understand why we have done this. It can get confusing for people who come to the site to discuss breast cancer if they have to search through all sorts of other topics.

Best wishes

Ann
