Just wondered if there are any others with secondaries who would be interested in meeting up for coffee / wine / cake / whatever…
I’m 42, have been living with secondaries in the bones and lungs since 2005 (primary 2000) and treated at City Hospital Breast Institute. Oestrogen receptive, hormone ablation since then, probably about to start chemo.
I’ve never been one for support groups, but recently thinking I’d like to meet up with others in the same boat.
Let me know if you’re interested - I’d be happy to arrange a gathering Nottingham city centre or at mine (Kimberley) if that’s more comfortable, daytime or evenings.
hello, i have primary breast cancer, had mastectomy triple negative but because of other health factors no chemo or anything just left in gods hands. I live in nottingham snape woods bulwell area, I have also had the op at the city hospital. I know we are not in exactly the same boat, but in the same city. I haven’t gone to the support group yet at the breast institute might go next week, if you want to meet i would be very happy to, it would be nice to be with somebody who do you not have to pretend or be careful what to say regarding this illness, lets face it you can’t say to anybody “I feel like throwing this prosthesis through the window” they most probably think you’ve gone mad, or if you see somebody with a beautiful cleavage tears comes to your eyes, they might think i am a lesbian or something lol.
Well if you want to meet I’ll be delighted.
Love Josie
I’m heading from Nottingham to the BCC course on Secondary BC in December 2010 that’s being held in Sheffield - is anyone else going? I’m travelling by train as still can’t drive after shoulder replacement op on arm for secondaries. Would like to meet up with you if you are going - was just diagnosed in April and not been to any support sessions so far. Josie did you go to the Breast Institute session in the end?
Sorry to hear that your diagnosis is now with secondary. I have not been to any of the support sessions at the Breast Institute at the City Hospital but I do know there is one as I’ve seen leaflets on the tables in the waiting room there - not sure how focused it is on secondary rather than primary breast cancer… I also have secondaries in my bones as well, and other places, and was only diagnosed in April so am still coming to terms with this although treatments seem to be going really well. Would like to link with you if you do live in Nottingham area - I’m 58 going on 59 and trying to be young at heart!!! I went to the Breast Cancer Care day in Sheffield yesterday for our region about “Living with Secondary Breast Cancer” - it was really helpful - I don’t know when the next one is but they are having monthly meetings up there with a focus on secondary breast cancer and I might try to go up there since the support yesterday was so helpful. Would you like details of those meeting?
Hi Rosie, I live in derby but I go to the Sheffield secondaries group which meets once a month. There are some great discussions and you occasionally get a guest speaker on aspects of sec BC. We are meeting next Thursday at 11 am if you fancy it. I have found it very helpful. The place where they meet is in the centre of Sheffield so you could travel by car and park at Meadowhall and then get the term in. Or go by train and do the 15 min walk. if you fancy coming along give breast cancer care a ring first.

Hi everyone, not sure how many of you still use this site as I know some of the posts are old. i’m Janine aged 36, have two small children aged 3 and 7 and live in Nottingham. Ive been on the marianne trial (TDM1) since Dec 2011 at Notts city hospital and so far its working really well. Would love to meet up with local women who understand what I face with the whole advanced cancer thing. Please get in touch if you are interested in meeting. X
Hi Janine, I would be happy to meet up if you fancy it. I live in derby but can travel. I go to the group in Sheffield which is really good, also there are others from derby and Nottinghamshire that sometimes attend. It’s a really good support group with a real mixture of people fighting sec BC.
I am 58 with four children. Dx in nov 2010 with BC and bone mets. Let me know if you want to meet.
