Hi Lesley, glad the wigs have dried out ok and you are happy with them lovely ?? hope your oh recovers soon too did you make him dip the bag in the sterile bucket at the front door when he dropped it off? I can let you have the salespersons name that sold me full set of body suits with breathing apparatus and moon mission standard material that I get everyone to put on before they come near me ???shi xx
Well done Otter on your application, hope you have some positive news ?
Just come in from bloods, oncologist & dentist. I have a new onc, she was really lovely. Went through all my se’s and have agreed to keep meds & injections the same for this cycle, they can be changed next time if there’s a problem. So all being well with my blood I have a green light for chemo 2 on Friday ?
Then saw dentist as I have a mahoosive toothache ? it turns out she thinks I have been grinding my teeth in my sleep so as from next week I shall be looking so sexy in my sleep cap, a mouth guard, lopsided boobs (had mastectomy in July & will have reduction on good one next year, apparently implants don’t go up to my size!!) and bare lady garden !! ?
Hope you’ve all had a good Wednesday
Xxx ????
Surgically I think I have got away scot free - 2 lesions, one 5cm and one 2cm but both close and at the side of the boob. Other than the scar you wouldn’t know I had had any surgery at all. No dents or anything.
But then I’m told I could be BRCA positive which would mean a double mastectomy!! So what was the point of tissue conserving surgery???
I was up at Guys at the end of October and they took the bloods etc to do all the tests, for 5 different mutations, all breast/ovary/prostate related. I wont hear until January what the results are.
I’m just putting it out of my mind at the moment but I don’t think I will be jumping straight into surgery without weighing up all the options … something my Oncologist appeared to be supportive of … but then she ruined it and said ‘Oh if you don’t want surgery you can go into a trial for the non-surgical approach, we are struggling to get recruits!’ Don’t get me started!!
But very early on before all of this when we were first kicking about options and likely outcomes, the CNS spoke about reconstructive surgery and most of it seems to be get the other one to match, rather than sort the problem one out??? It did all feel quite counter intuitive!
Lesley Are you tn? I get my gene results early Dec. I know what you mean about prospect of dbl mx and ovaries out but if it prevents things coming back then I know you will do what it takes too. Don’t forget if you need that salesman’s name for the space suits, I bought the full range ???shi xx
Good evening ladies, got my blood checked this morning and better so got my tasty cocktail woo hoo!!! Back home with extra anti sickness so hopefully keep the hangover at bay!
Hope others today got on ok xxx.
I am also waiting on genetics testing should get results back before surgery decisions. But angelina Jolie doesn’t look that bad if it’s all gotta go :0)
One more cocktail and it’s Bon jovi half way there party! Take my hand and we’ll make it I swear woo hoo!!!
xxx
I had a nice pair of 36GG’s until July. I think my surgeon was hoping to get away with just a mastectomy . As implants don’t come in my size my new boob is about half the size of the other. I have been given several choices for reconstruction but have decided to keep implant & have reduction on other side so I will eventually have a matching pair.
???
Bythesea, you are so positive and I shall look forward to your Bon Jovi party ??
Ha thanks jc it might be the steroids. If hangover kicks in you might not hear from me so good luck on Friday xxx
Also back at home after a long Cocktail Hour! Well done Bythesea and anyone else plugged in today, and good luck everyone in the hot seat this week x
PS I deliberately maintain very little lady garden at the best of times… and I highly recommend it ??.
Good luck Otter for tomorrow, sending you hugs ???
Good luck today to everyone having their cocktail 2 - thinking of you all.
I have to admit to having a bit of a naff evening last night. Felt really down in the mouth, which isn’t like me… and to make matters worse I had run out of Guinness - schoolboy error!!
I gave myself a bit of a talking to and have woken feeling a lot brighter than the weather!!
I have a little question… for the last 4/5 days my right eye lid has been twitching from time to time, not for long, but it keeps happening. Last night, my right eye started to feel quite gritty, almost as if I had an eye lash in it. It went quite red but I think that was more to do with me sticking my fingers in it! I went to bed expecting to wake up to a real gunky mess this morning, but no, nothing. It still feels gritty and it’s still twitching. I have put in some hayfever relief eye drops.
Am I just trying to link this to the chemo?? I’m not overly worried, my vision is not affected, no discharge, no sign of infection etc. I will mention when I go for my pre-check on Tuesday but thought I would run past the gang to see if anyone else has experienced/heard of it???
have a happy Thursday!
xx
Good Luck today Otter ? ? Xx
Lesley, my eyes have started to be very dry and irritated feeling, and I’m carrying around Saline eye drops in my handbag. On some mornings I’ve had to put a drop in to get them to open properly before I get out of bed. Dry eye is the number one cause of red and irritated eye, unless you have any sign of a sticky green or yellow dischargelr swelling around the eyelid, which might indicate infection. Some hay fever drops contain sodium chromoglycate which can cause a feeling of grittiness, so I’d say use non medicated drops to wash out, or see your pharmacist/GP for some Chloramphenicol drops for infection.
(I’m am a GP, but would always er on the side of caution and go and show someone soooner rather than later if you’re concerned x )
Mostly I’m just trying to be a good patient! I can see the Registrars heart sinking if I ask too many questions! It’s being a fascinating journey being on the other side of the desk and really opened my eyes to the range and role of alternative and supportive therapies…there is so much out there that isn’t taught in the mainstream medical community. Fascinating!
I can see that this would be quite an eye opening experience for you. You must give the other medics a nervous twitch ?
The support therapies are great, this business has as much effect on our mental health as it does on our physical health. I’ve also been fascinated to learn about the effects of things like Manuka honey and the way that the medical grade is used for wound management etc.
OMG! What an experience for you Milliemoo and Lesley !!
Lesley, when I went to the unit about the nosebleed, the doc said nose as well as eyes can go very dry, eyes can feel irritated, nose can bleed x
I feel dryness and irritation down below will talk about it on Mon during my visit with onc
I’m mentally preparing myself for a shave, the hairs are falling into my plate when I’m eating x hopefully family won’t find any in their tea tonight ? I wanted to do it after chemo 2 but not sure if it lasts so long ?
Lesley ???
Tea’s nearly ready; just put the plate on the floor, kneel down and shake your hips vigorously ???
Thanks Lesley, I’m glad that you are playing nicely - my dentist receptionist decided to be helpful and offered for me to wait outside so as to avoid a crowded waiting room!! Not very impressed!! ?
I think I’ll treat myself to an early Christmas pressie of Liz Earle.
I’m a big fan of manuka honey too, especially with a Holland and Barrett penny sale, I’ve stocked up.
Anadan, I’ve had watery bloodshot eyes for a few days last week and dry down below for a few days. Talking of that area, just leaving for a smear - great fun ?
Thanks Bythesea - your no.2 sounds as if if went well ?
Enjoy your afternoon ladies xxx
???
I know all our delivery drivers as there’re coming by almost daily!! It’s not just me ordering though - or is it!! ?
The online shopping is the steroids Lesley, we all do it ???bythesea That photo you put up of the sea the other day was lush forgot to say thanks ??shi xx
