November 2017 Chemo Starters

Morning AnnaKarenina
Temp all good, no shakes or shivers, tiny bit of background nausea and don’t feel too tired. But as you say first non steroid day so may dip later!!
Looks like it might be a decent day do a walk and fresh air I think will be the order of the day … plus sorting out my new door bell which seems to have paired with next door … jumped out of the shower and off the loo yesterday only to find no one at my door but next door greeting people. I must have really pissed them off when I was setting it up for the right chime and volume … must have pressed it more than a dozen times!! ???
Hope we are all on the way back up … injections again tonight … truly living the dream!!
???

Good morning everyone, good to hear that you are all starting to feel better after round 2. It looks like fatigue seems to be hitting harder round 2, so I will expect that too.
Trying to make the most of my last few days before Thursday and round 2.
Rest up everyone at take it easy x

And good luck Lesley with the door bell ???

Can I ask a PICC line question of you all … just something that’s been buzzing in my head …,
I’ve had a ANC so left arm is out of action for bloods, BP etc. PICC will be going into the right arm. Can they still do BP on the PICC side??

???morning ladies, hope your se’s are starting to ease, Lesley we’ve got some ladies with pic lines on Oct thread if you need answers lovely. Our Oct ?have all got our gold sparkly hot pants on and are hanging onto each other, few of us are going to be surfing on ?roof for next 3 as we are going onto the t part of treatment ???again it’s get through one treatment at a time and ???towards rads ???:sparkles::sparkles::sparkles:shi xx

Thanks Shi
I’ll pop on and ask the question!
Yes very annoying that just as we nail FEC they go and change everything! But half way point and all that!!
xx

Hi Lesley they have to take my BP using my forearm on my PICC side. It freaks them out when I tell them it is all they have (especially in a&e) but seems to work ok ?
Glad to hear you are feeling a little better :heart: And good luck with the injections. XX

Hi Lesley they will take your BP around your ankle. I have a PICC line left arm and had surgery right side, so at my ONC appointment last week they used my left ankle and all was fine. Apart from my hairy Neanderthal legs ?

Just seen Ruth’s comment. When I told the nurse she was oh no problem I’ll use your ankle. In fact they used my ankle before I went into surgery. One strange memory I have.

Carole that would feel wierd using ankle! They seem happy enough with my forearm ?

As long as they have options I’m happy!! ?
Baby’sbum Legs so they can have a go at those!! ?

Hi ladies, just checking in with some ??:sparkles::sparkles::sparkles:for you all and hope you are doing ok. Us Oct girls have pulled on our sparkly gold hot pants and are having a bit of a bop to kylie spinning around at the mo, what’s playing on the nov ?? ??:sparkles::sparkles:shi xx

Hi ladies, just popping by to check up on you all. You really are a lovely supportive group with a great mix of humour and good advice!

I was where you are 3 years ago. Mastectomy, FEC-T, successfully cold capped, rads, reconstruction.

I’m keeping a watchful eye on you from a far, can’t comment on all the individual posts but wanted you to know that I’m with you every step of the way and if anyone has specific worries or questions please fire away and I’ll help where I can.

I’ll repeat the well worn out phrase of “keep strong” and add keep talking to each other as I think it really helps to know you’re not alone in this.

Hugs to you all xx

Fab to log on and see Shi’s and Riversidedawn’s posts. I would have loved a bop. Reckon my choice this morning might be a bit more sedate than Kylie. I think I am doing a bit of spinning every time I get out of bed in the mornings - it passes quickly, but dizziness is definitely a thing if I get up too quickly and gold hotpants have never been an option!

I love the idea of being watched and supported from afar by Riversidedawn (great name too on a dark December morning). Thank you. It is so wonderful to glimpse the people who have moved beyond our stage on this pesky process.

I have been seeing someone whom I didn’t know well before my diagnosis and treatment began who went through bc and chemo/surgery/rads etc in 2012. She told me that of all the wonderful support she received during treatment, it was the monthly chemotherapy thread she joined when she started which was the most valuable. She is still in touch with two of the women whom she met on that thread. I understand entirely why she feels that way and find this little corner of the internet such a great place to be. Thanks all. xxx

Morning all

sorry for the radio silence, all good at this end, in the overall scheme of things

I’ll also pass on the spinnng around … I’ll just watch!

Last time around, today was my worst day, so I am being a little bit more gentle with myself.

I still have that underlying sense of nausea, as if it could spring up at any moment.  Onc prescribed the revised meds for me for 7 days so I will be going wtih that.

Fatigue doesn’t seem as bad, but I wonder if its because I am used to it now, it was a bit of a shock last time.

Appetite is all over the show, but I’m eating good food regardless of whether I want it or not.

Fresh air and gentle exercise I think is the order of the day.

hugs to you all

Carole - are you in on Thursday??  Have you had your check up? all ok?

xx

Morning Ladies,
Oh what a night!!!
Thanks a million everyone for occupational Health advice they were brilliant but my work have been amazing so all good there :0) Had a late visitor yesterday, my period, 9 days late I thought last chemo had frightened it away but no luck :0( I usually get horrific stomach cramp, sickness and diarrhoea but as a chemo patient it was brutal!!! Heart rate slowed to 49 bpm and temp dropped to 35.2 called 24 hour number and they got doc to call back. Temp had started to rise by midnight but thought I was getting an nhs bed!
Sorry for big downer post but has anyone had any bother with piles??? Think i tore me bum hole ha! Dignity has defo gone!!! Is an open tear a site of infection? Do I need to tell anyone or just make sure I keep it clean??? Ha sorry ladies so early in morning xxxxx

I’m with you Lesley and will just watch, nice to have a lazy day. I have been loving channel 5 Christmas movies.
Take it eaaaaaassssssyyyyyyy!!!xxx

Piles, clean with wet wipes after you go, get the anusol cream on them externally and then sudocream everywhere down below, keep eye on temp and change in stools (refer to Bristol stool chart for changes) I know it’s nuts but the units do tell you to report any bleeding from anywhere, bums, cuts, gums, anywhere as it is a potential risk for infection while our immune systems are on holiday in Florida or maldives or Europe (depending on how long infection lasts) ??:sparkles::sparkles:shi xx

Thank you ladies, xxx

What day are you JC?
Feeling really delicate now I’ve got up, as if a big puff of wind would send me flying!
