I’m so far having a duvet day, although working on laptop. I have a soo many well wishers wanting to meet up this week. Like your daughters jc they have all come at once :0( going for tea at 1:30 but still in bed and will defo need a shower to tidy myself up after last night :0( just feel like pulling duvet over my head but don’t want this to beat me and determined to get out there!!! Argh xxx. Did I mention a bought my sister a £14.99 wig off Amazon and it’s amazing??? Really soft and realistic xxx
Afternoon all, gosh sounds like its a bit of a crap day for some out there, sending big hugs to all, Bythesea hope you are doing okay poor you.
Just had visit from DN and she has skipped off happy with blood in hand and I am due to collect my Emend tomorrow so I can take it an hour before treatment at home on Thursday, so I’ll be good to go. So fingers crossed bloods okay.
Rest up ladies and take care xx
I struggled with piles on cycle 2. Another vote for moist toilet paper wipes from me. Just make sure that you buy flushable ones. I used Germaloids ointment seemed to be allergic to the Anusol which didn’t help.
Just listen to your body, keep up a good fluid intake and take a short walk in the fresh air each day if you can bear it because it does help with fatigue. I have a rule of getting up and just walking about the house for a few minutes each hour to keep my blood moving for the first few days then back under the duvet. Eating little and often helps with nausea, bland carbs are best along with a few almonds.
Hope you all have a better day tomorrow x
Sending hugs to all ???
I think my antisickness meds are the cause of constipation for the first few days after the treatment x but I drink a lot and try to eat rally really healthily x today for lunch: broccoli, olives, avocado, tomatoes, sunflower and pumpkin seeds, parsley in olive oil with a crispy slice of bread xx
I seem to get tired quickly, so in bed often too?
Yes, I was told that the anti-sickness meds caused constipation so I took laxido as it was supplied and the chemo nurse advised me to do so if I didn’t go as normal.
Hi Ladies, I’m from May thread and just popping on here I see a few of you are suffering from the dreaded constipation - from my personal point of view, I didn’t want to take more medicines than necessary and I found a more natural way to help was prunes and prune juice. If you’re going on to Docetaxol chemo - I can almost guarantee you won’t be needing this advice…!!
thankfully I’ve not suffered with constipation… I find juicing pineapples really useful, nice and refreshing as well.
I went to a homeopath years ago who told me how good pineapple was at resetting your colon. It’s always worked for me since.
Looks like switching to T will be fun ?
Thanks for the pineapple tip. I find it a bit sweet but quite like the juice frozen into ice cubes. Quite refreshing for dry mouth once it starts to defrost.
I did resort to Dulcoease last time which is a softener rather than a laxative so but more gentle took a couple of days to take effect but I’ve been fine since. I also eat porridge with a ground seed mix in it. I get the mix from Lidl flax seeds chia seeds and some others I think.
Hi Lesley quick question do you juice the core as well? All the good stuff like bromelein is in there -keep meaning to do it but haven’t done it yet as need to get a new juicer!
Hi Ruth, yes just top and tail and stick the rest thru the juicer.
If I’m feeling energetic I stick the pulp in a sponge mix! Bit beyond me at the mo ?
Another vote for pineapple. I can’t get enough of it on chemo and it really makes me feel better in all kinds of ways. Strangely, it was my craving when I was pregnant too.
I hope people are feeling rested and a bit better this evening? I’ve been out walking this afternoon and managed to spend the morning working at home. Just finishing off some stuff now (kinda, I am obviously on the forum) before I finish working for the night. I might try to fit in a Headspace session. I have been using it to help me sleep and discovered that there is a special section on meditation/mindfulness for those with cancer. It has been brilliant for me so far. I am only at the early stages of completing the package of sessions, but it is a welcome discovery and I’d recommend. xx
That sounds really refreshing ?
Do t you worry about mould and dirt on the outside of the pineapple? I might try that though because I prefer fresh pineapple to tinned or juice and my juicer hasn’t had an airing for a very long time!
EvenIng ladies! Do you th No you blitz up the pineapple as a smoothies rather than juicing as I don’t have a juicer?
i still have pressies to buy which now think will have to order them n the internet. Whoever left may end up with some strange or extravagant presents whilst I’m on a steroid induced shopping frenzy ?
I will definitely make a point of doing the pineapple thing this cycle - thanks for the inspiration Lesley. ???
Ladies, do you think I could just blend the pineapple instead of juicing it?
Never tried it Meesh but you might need to cut it up small to start ???
I’ve got some tinned pineapple which I bought for sore mouth, but haven’t experienced it yet so it’s still sat there. I might have some of that instead until I can get to shops for fresh which I prefer. Thanks Lesley, I’ll let you know how I go once I’ve experimented!
Meesh freeze some of the tinned pineapple I use an ice cube tray it really is lovely to suck on xx
Thanks Sue I’ll give it a go!
