@kd48 I had horrific heartburn fir a week after my first infusion then it cleared up , I can’t take gaviscon as it’s dangerous with blood thinners but I discovered bananas are great at neutralising stomach acid so I’ve had a banana a day and have been ok . I am going to ask for a prescription this week though … I think omeprazole is find to take but check first
For my second cycle I have had lansoprazole (more or less the same as omeprasole) - it’s been a game changer - looking back to cycle 1 I think a lot of my nausea feelings were related to heartburn as I’ve needed no extra anti sickness drugs this time around - I hope you get something that suits
Hi everyone. How are you doing now? I’m off to the hospital this morning for blood tests and to see the oncologist in anticipation of my next round of chemo this Friday. Becoming a bit tired of it all now but this will be number three so ticking them off slowly. I hope you are all ok. @arty1 how are you doing? xx
@flojo Im sat at the hospital too ! Just waiting for pre treatment bloods x good luck with yours today and seeing the oncologist x
You too! xx
Well the veins played ball unlike last time so that’s good , so all being well round two goes ahead on Friday … are you having six cycles @flojo ?
How is everyone today ?
Just wanted to say hello to everyone as I’ve just found you all. On my second (of six) cycle of Docetaxyl and Phesgo having had a mastectomy in September. It’s so lovely to see all your messages and I’m looking forward to joining in once I figure out how it all works!! Was (re)diagnosed in August with triple positive. First time round in 2020 one receptor didn’t show up (who knew a tumour could be too small….!) so unfortunately but unsurprisingly the treatment wasn’t as successful as they’d hoped. Chemo side effects…the worst one at the moment is constipation. Heading out for a walk shortly and hoping to literally get things moving!! Hope you are all having a good day.
Anne16231 sorry you find yourself here, the nov gang are amazing and will you Shi xx
Hi All, anyone experienced a swollen throat from chemo? Im trying to figure out if its a chemo thing or the start of a cold or similar. I have no other symptoms but it’s uncomfortable and difficult to swallow. Told the nurse at my toxicity review but she wasn’t concerned given that I don’t have a temp or flu symptoms.
Good luck with your bloods!! you’ve got this!! hope you’re feeling ok!!
I’ve been fine to be honest since my second infusion…. only had one or two tired off days…. felt 95-100% normal the rest of the days, just very extremely bored. There’s only so much tv I can watch. Might wrap up and sit outside with a hot choc and mince pie later, listen to the birds…… that will past some time, hahah.
I have my third cycle next Friday!! it’s comes around fast, can’t believe it. Are you having EC first?? how have you been?! Mines Docatoxal first then EC, I’m already dreading it changing to something different
Wishing every a good week and lots of love and luck with all your infusions this week!!
Xx
Does it actually feel swollen or a weird feeling when eating etc?! I had bad acid reflux and a weird feeling when I ate and it felt like everything took forever to go down…… but now I’m on acid reflux tablets that’s all settled. It was worse the first round of chemo but haven’t had it the second round. Xx
Interesting, I have been suffering with reflux, but hadn’t connected the two. It feels like my glands are up, but finding it hard to put my finger on anything else.
I feel this in my throat after chemo. Feels like everything is swollen and uncomfortable but it does pass eventually.
Mention it to your onc at next meeting Shi xx
That’s good! Yes, six cycles, so this will be round three if I get the go-ahead from the bloods.
Long wait to see the oncologist for about five minutes asking how I was. I was slightly confused as she said next time, I will be moving onto Docetaxel with Phesgo injections. I asked the nurse about it afterwards and she said it’s for HER2 positive, but I’m HER2 negative according to all my letters, so I guess I need to check that out. Bit confusing!
I’m glad to hear you have been feeling fine on Docetaxel! I’m doing it the opposite way around. EC for three and then Docetaxel for three. I feel the same - dreading the change. If it helps, other than being tired, a manky taste and the need to eat to settle what feels like hunger, I’ve felt pretty normal (pains but I think these are from the injections) - and completely normal by the second week - on EC so far (touching wood a lot!). x
In case it helps I’m on Docetaxyl and Phesgo and like you now feel ok by week 2 x
Welcome aboard @anne16231 - We are a friendly bunch and all going through the same trials and twists of chemo right now x
I’m sorry that you’ve had a reoccurrence … here’s to kicking it right out if the park this time !
Chemo constipation is a bit of a beast ! I found it hit quickly after my infusion but after a few days was replaced with chemo lava bum … I’ve only started to feel normal in that dept in the last couple of days and typically … it’s time for round two …
Ask your team to prescribe some laxido… it does the trick x
