November 2024 chemo starters

Sorry you’re feeling rough. I also have a hard time celebrating each round until the side effects have subsided. x

don’t forget these drugs accumulate, my last round of nab-paclitaxel was hardest too. Plus you have the end in sight, so having to sit it out for a few more weeks is probably tougher than waiting for the next round.

@flower5 thank you- apologies, life is so stressful and I haven’t had a minute. Brief response from oncology to say they can’t see spread on scan and will see me in clinic. I’m not sure if I will get further info then or not- I will ask for it though as I still don’t know what the pain is. I’m obviously glad they saw no spread but I’m still feeling worried too. How are you? Xo

Sorry late reply! Pains subsided now but another chemo due on Friday. We move house on Thursday so the stress is piling on!! Well done on finishing chemo! :purple_heart: I really hope it all went well xo

Sorry I’m just catching up- my life is a whirlwind of stress that just keeps coming! I was told to add in ibuprofen after being told not to. It didn’t help. Chemo due again on Friday. I’ll prepare with regular pain relief and I’ll try heat too. Oh and one of the other lovely ladies has suggested antihistamine so I’ll try it too. I hope you are well lovely :purple_heart:xo

@flojo sorry you’ve been feeling rough , remember the chemo builds up so it stands to reason that near the end , it’s going to hit hard if it is … My last abraxane has wiped me out …
also they say that it takes eight weeks to recover from each cycle of chemo , therefore it’s completely unrealistic of people to think you are just going to bounce back the next month !!
Rest , and allow your body to recover x

@sam3 Im really glad no spread was spotted , I think something a bit more than a brief message telling you Would have been nicer though
How on Earth are you moving house while doing this ! I’m in awe !

I found heat patches and hot water bottles a staple of my side effects journey , try adding in piriton too x
@stevie-puggle I’m so sorry EC is hitting hard , please mention any new side effects as your team don’t want you to suffer in silence x

I’m a few days post herceptin only and I’m definitely allergic to it , the measles like rash was there in force by Friday morning :disappointed:
Yesterday I organised a networking event for ny industry . I’d been planning it since pre cancer so turned it into a fundraiser … 80 attendees and £510 raised for BCN !!! I do actually feel like I’m dying though . I was on my feet all day running the event and was shaking with fatigue . Today I feel like I’ve been up Snowdon :see_no_evil:
A selfie of me towards the end of the day looking exhausted . With a friend … the wig is a cheap
Amazon one … ! I’m in the left with the bags under my eyes :see_no_evil:

Glad to hear it was good news and hope you get a more detailed explanation. I’m not doing too badly, I had the second docetaxel last week and I’ve got bone pain again, but I can keep on top of it by taking ibuprofen and paracetamol together at four hour intervals. If you’re suffering push for better pain relief or even dose reduction, my friend was prescribed oramorph. x

Good luck with the house move!

@flower5 I had the bone pain too … it’s quite rough isn’t it :sob: I found the piriton helped and hot water bottles have been lifesavers

I did try one of those microwave heat packs yesterday and I was surprised how much it helped. The problem is that the pain tends to move around, so it’s like whack a mole! The good thing in my case is that it only lasts a few days, so it’s already starting to ease off. My appetite is back with my taste buds today, I had two bowls of cereal this morning and I’ve just put cheese in my soup because it didn’t have enough calories already! x

@flower5 I misread that as cheese in my SOAP :rofl::rofl:
Glad your taste buds are returning . I hate that feeling if everything tasting like yack after each cycle … even coffee tastes like hot water

Blimey! A house move on top of everything else. Don’t overdo it! I saw your scan was clear, so that’s good news. Hopefully all goes ok for you this week. xx

You look lovely - and what a brilliant thing to do - well done on raising so much money! I hope you are taking easy today!

I’m feeling a bit better today, which is good. Hoping that every day brings a bit more energy. Pain has gone and mouth feels semi-normal.

What are they going to do about your allergy? xx
