Oh dear not a good week for us on the November thread.
@letsdoit it must be so worrying getting conflicting info and not knowing if things are going in the right direction. Keep asking questions, but also I’d be most inclined to trust the latest results, as things often get revised as more info comes in. On this journey I’ve more often been told " it might be X" ( worst scenario) and then test shows it’s better than that.
In terms of seeing progress towards the end of treatment, I like @Jaygo ‘s idea of breaking it into chunks, otherwise it’s hard for the mind to manage. And treating yourself at the end of each phase. Sending hugs xxx

Sending positive thoughts @zebramoon and as I said to @Jaygo you’ve been amazing so far, and you’re allowed days of overwhelm. You’ve been so strong at getting through chemo and when the time comes you’ll be strong enough for the next stage. Try to treat yourself with something and be a little kind to yourself during this in between stage.

As for me, I’m waiting in A and E with suspected DVT or PICC migration, I’m just hoping I’ve overreacted to pain/ discomfort in picc arm and it’s actually nothing. Entirely possible :crossed_fingers: Hey ho……

I’m so sorry you’re at the hospital again! Will they be able to scan you today? How did your chest pain turn out? All of these extra possible problems are so scary, really hope it turns out to be nothing but glad you’re getting it checked. You getting your chest pain checked inspired me to get mine checked and now I’ve got an echocardiogram booked for Sunday 22nd. Hope you get sorted and get home soon x

Yep , here again!!

They didn’t find anything wrong with heart last time and put all pain symptoms down to Docetaxel side effects, which have now finally eased. All my pains gradually settled down over the last couple of days, but am left with this constant throbbing ache in my PICC arm, which worries me a bit, so decided best not to ignore it.

@zebramoon can I ask how it felt when you first had DVT?

@nib32 Thought I’d slept funny on it, just a bit achey. Next day was a bit worse so I went up to the chemo unit. It felt a bit heavy then too but no redness / swelling. The third day I forgot about it as my auntie came round to help me with the housework and then the Thursday morning I noticed a pattern of purple veins on that shoulder and went back to the hospital. The vein thing was enough for them to do a d-dimer blood test which was raised. That gave them enough evidence to prescribe anticoagulants and I went back for ultrasound the next day which confirmed it. It was fairly subtle until the blood vessels became very prominent in my shoulder. I had a suspected dvt in my calf a few years ago - absolute agony! This was much milder and if I didn’t know that dvt can be a picc complication it wouldn’t have occurred to me. If they do the d-dimer test and it’s normal then it rules out a clot but it can be raised in a lot of conditions including cancer so whether they do it might depend who you see - I was told on the Tuesday that it wouldn’t help them but on the Thursday a different doctor did it anyway.

Oh @nib32 what a shock to read this! I hope that you’re ok my love. Do send updates when you can. XXX
