November 2025 chemo starters

Just wanted to rant a little (again): today I had chemo and everyone thought it was my last one cause the oncologist STILL hasn’t put the cycle he forgot to count on the calendar….. I had at least five different nurses congratulate me and i had to tell them- No I still need to come three more times….. hoping they haven’t messed up even more and forgotten anything else:upside_down_face:

Oh @lmack95 for goodness sake , how bloody frustrating is that!!! Is there any way to check these are being scheduled? Are you due to see oncologist soon, or can Breast care nurses give someone a kick up the BS? They have been good at doing that for me. My oncologist appt still hadn’t been booked for next week despite being verbally agreed, but BCN managed to get appointments to ring me back same day (this am) .

And you need to make absolutely sure meds have been ordered from pharmacy as that has been my issue lately. I’m hoping that they will have a solution when I see oncologist next week….. :crossed_fingers::crossed_fingers:

I’m so sorry, I hate not knowing what’s happening! It’s bad enough having to have the treatment without it seeming slapdash and needing to worry about mistakes. Are your remaining infusions scheduled now? I had one mistake in booking that led to a 5 day delay and I was very cross! You may have had a treatment plan mailed by your oncologist to your GP at the start that will describe what they were intending so you can check that you’ve received everything. Hope you get it sorted so you can have some peace of mind while you’re recovering.

Hi all

My first time on here. Day 7 after last chemo (3 EC 3 Docetaxel) Today has been really hard. Tank is so empty but already putting pressure on myself to get back to work and caring for my partner. I was just sitting here thinking about before my diagnosis, having meltdowns about meetings and work life balance, desperately trying to find time. Now I have time I can do nothing with because my brain is fried and that is really peeing me off.

I was diagnosed in May. Little lump don’t worry. Progressed to bilateral mammoplasty, then node clearance, then chemo, next radio, now Ramoxiclib. I thought I would feel closure when I rang the bell, but my anxiety is worse than ever.

Probably just steroid paranoia and will feel better by Monday, but thought I would try a share to see if it helped. You guys are really great. Reading your shares helped me.

I am a physio who has worked with cancer pathways so I had some insight into what was coming. Like a lot of you, the pharmacy issues will be the focus of my feedback!

One last thing. Do Maggies - best thing ever.

I’ve not been on for a while so a lot to catch up on! Seems like it’s been a rough couple of weeks for most of us  sending lots of love to all!

My MRI came back showing possible progression despite chemo so the MDT very quickly switched courses. I had a quick call with BCN on Tuesday evening which said they wanted me in for chat following MRI. Had last chemo Wednesday morning (as was too late to cancel) and Thursday found out they wanted a CT to check no spread and surgery ASAP which was less than 2 weeks away.

So my brain had to pivot from a month left of chemo to surgery in under 2 weeks. Thankfully the what hasn’t changed at all, just the when! Good news is both MRI and CT show no signs of spread to lymph nodes or elsewhere

So I had surgery on Wednesday of this week (half omega lumpectomy with some reshaping plus 5 lymph nodes). Managed to be home same day and recovering well - not in any pain, just an awareness around the area. Exercises are going well. Now just have to wait the 2 weeks for results. I’m resigned to there being residual cancer as lump had definitely grown, but will be over the moon if margins and lymph nodes come back clear :crossed_fingers:

@kcim What a ride! Glad you’re out the other side and that MRI and CT were clear. Great news.

I’m in a similar boat in that cancer has possibly multiplied, so waiting for CT scan, operation booked 19 March and all chemo now stopped.

Hoping lymph nodes come back clear for you and continue with your excellent recovery. x

Thanks! Will keep everything crossed for you on your CT! :crossed_fingers:

Oh no, @kcim so sorry to hear this. Just when you thought you knew what path you were on then it all changes round, must be so utterly discombobulating.. But great that they have acted so quickly and hopefully in good time to prevent any worsening. :crossed_fingers: for results re nodes and margins.
Keep up the good work with exercises Xxx

Hello there @daisylou1 !!! Congratulations for getting to end of chemo!!! I am on the same regime as you , one more to go, and can imagine just how empty MY tank will be when I get to the end.

I am hearing more and more stories of how people feel at the end of chemo: anticlimactic, frustrated at not being able to switch back into ‘normal’ straight away, battling other people’s expectations, etc… Think we’ve just been so focused on getting through this awful process, that we haven’t thought about the after, and that seems like it’s actually a huge thing, both physically and psychologically. Especially when ending chemo doesn’t mean we’ve ended treatment.

So glad you’ve posted on here, and hope it helps you. And sorry for delayed response as just getting my head/ body around latest side effects!!!

Sending hugs! Xx

Thank you so much for replying. @nib32 It really helps. I am lucky that my boss is also my best friend, he has me on a final warning for apologising……he reminds me that the expectation is often my expectation and not others. Easier to listen to internal negative than accept the help and kindness of others……your reply has proved that! Dared to reach out and now I feel like I got a big hug.

I managed to get out of the house yesterday - risked a cuppa despite being at peak risk of infection - needed to see another human face and some smiles.

Last night the panic finally settled.

good luck with your last round!

Glad to hear they responded promptly to get your surgery moved forward and especially that scans were clear and nothing in the armpit. Hope you get good news from pathology and can draw a line under the whole thing asap. Are you having radiation? My surgery is booked for Tuesday coming and radiation expected in around 8 weeks.

How are you doing? You mentioned more side effects, hope you’re recovering ok. When is the last one? I was partly dreading the recovery of the last cycle but also very worried there would be some problem that could prevent me receiving it! Hope you can get it over and done with asap. Do you know how long you’ll need to wait for radiation? Best wishes for your final infusion x

Hey there lovely @zebramoon thanks for checking on me!!! New side effect is neuropathy in feet- numb but also quite painful super sensitive heels. Not sure if I should be resting or using/massaging them and if it’s likely to be just temporary. They feel as if they are bruised, and are hot, but look fine. Last chemo should be 17th March, and like you did I’m worrying in case it gets delayed!!! But I think I always do that! No info yet re radiation, but have oncology appointment on Tuesday. I guess you have everything prepped for surgery, is it tomorrow or Tuesday? I’m sure you’re feeling anxious but it will be so good to get it done , tick off another stage. Xxx

Yes, it’ll be radiation in 6-8 weeks for 1-3 weeks depending on size I think. Then ongoing HER2 targeted therapy and at some point a discussion about whether hormone therapy is worth it (ER 3/8 so benefits may not outweigh side effects). Still, very much feel like I’ve got over a major hurdle!

How are you feeling about your surgery now? If it helps, I raised a concern on morning of surgery re sensation v appearance and we changed what was being done that morning so it’s (almost) never to late to raise anything you’re concerned about with them!

Surgery is tomorrow, hopefully as a day case, my cousin is picking me up at 5.30am as I’m a long way from the hospital - feeling nervous but better than I felt last week, just want it to be over and not hanging over me. Best wishes to all xx

Wishing you all the very very best @zebramoon!!! So glad you have your cousin to drive you there. Soon it really WILL be behind you. Surgeons are wonderful talented people, place your faith and let them do their magic. Let us know how it goes. Sending many hugs xxx

Hope it all goes well for you in the morning! Like everything on this mad journey so far (except perhaps the waiting) surgery wasn’t anywhere near as bad as I expected :smiling_face_with_three_hearts: Sending big (one sided) hugs! :two_hearts:

Haven’t been on for a little while, this is the first week since Nov that I’ve not had to go to the hospital for chemo, picc line, bloods or appointments :smiling_face_with_three_hearts: enjoying getting some time back.

@zebramoon hope the surgery went well.

@Kara how are you doing?

Hope everyone is enjoying the :sun:, spring is finally here x

@nib32 I sympathise with the neuropathy, it’s a strange feeling isn’t it. Mine comes and goes, hoping it goes more definitely now I’ve finished chemo:rofl:

Thanks so much for everyone’s kind words, I’m all good, surgery done, at auntie’s house to be looked after tonight and ferried home tomorrow. Feels more bruised than painful but I have meds if needed, treated myself to the mastectomy pillow and a pregnancy pillow in the end and looking forward to having some mashed potato then getting cosy. Hope everyone is ok xxxx
