Now what?

Hi all

I had WLE 15 months ago and altho I developed some breast oedema I have thought in the last couple of months that it was subsiding. From yesterday however I have had a really strange pain in my arm - it runs down from the inner upper part, through the crook of my elbow and into my forearm. Its tender and painful to touch and hurts with a sort of tearing, pulling pain when I stretch my arm fully. I can see no swelling. Looking through the sites it sounds a bit like cording but I cant see anything and surely it wouldnt come after all this time?
I have appt with Onc in 10 days but in the meantime wondered if anyone else had had something similar?

Dear Laine

You can access recent threads on the subject of cording which may be of interest whilst you await replies, just type ‘cording’ into the search facility at the top of the page and click on ‘topics’, this will allow you to read some useful discussions.

Best wishes
Lucy

The other suggestion is maybe contacting your breast care nurse to see if you can get a referral to the lymphoedema nurse (or the breast care nurse may know) to see if you have lymphoedema.

Don’t want to put you off but I developed lymphoedema in 2006 and was originally diagnosed in 1995. No idea why it should start after all that time but just shows you that we always have to be aware of the possibility of getting it and there I was thinking I wouldn’t be affected!!

Thanks Pinkdove. I looked up the threads for cording and the described pain etc was exactly the same as mine - yet today its a bit better so how can that be? To be honest I seem to have one thing or another the matter with me all the time but before dx I was normally ok. I will spk to Onc next week but he’s normally in a rush (and it wont help that my appt is not till 5pm.)and again, I dont want to go for any more tests/scans yet awhile. Wussy I know.
