October 2015 Chemotherapy starters - please join!

Hello ladies, I’ve been reading all your lovely messages of support and friendship, what a wonderful group of ladies providing sanity to each other when you think your the only suffering with a particular symptom. I too was an October starter of FEC-t and had my first Taxotere yesterday, which I was so nervous about!! FEC did not agree with me at all and ended up in a&e 4 times at the advice of paramedic and had a bout of 6 days in hospital quarantine with my last FEC. Thought I was going to go mad confined in that room, even prisoners get exercise  They have lowered my dose of Tax by 20% in the hope I don’t end up back in hospital again.  So far feel ok on Tax but couldbe calm before storm once steroids wear off…? Would love to join your group, things seem a little quiet on here recent so assume you all use the Facebook page instead? Can you let me know how to join? Xx

Hi Nicky,

Welcome. The Facebook group is great and this place is good to stick around too as you get great folks like Jen and Peta popping in to help with their tips.

I had my first T last Friday and apart from a few aches, pains and tiredness am doing okay so far.

It’s oh so quiet on here. Well for anyone that’s around I’m 10 days post T1, and today is the most normal I have felt. Had a really rough 8 days with aches and flu like symptoms, then my temp started to rise yesterday, luckily it’s back to normal now. I think I better strike whilst the iron is hot and get my last few Christmas bits done, it will be lovely to get out, not been out the house since last Saturday. Have a good weekend all, hope you not suffering too much xx

Morning Jayne. Glad you are feeling better. I’m a day behind you and was feeling pretty good yesterday but seem a lot more tired today so think it’s going to be a day on the sofa watching movies for me. I’m off to the cinema tomorrow so saving my strength for that.

When I took my temp this morning it was at 37 which I know is still within normal but I’m normally around 36.7 so I’m keeping an eye on it. Mind you, it’s so mild here today I’ve got two windows open - in December. So it might just be that.

Hope you get lots done today.

Hi all, it is indeed very quiet…I’m assuming you’re all on FB a bit more, or maybe just busy!

I am now 17 days post my last chemo and atill not feeling great…better than I was but just a bit nauseous and fizzy head most of the time. Managed to get my son’s 18th done - a bit low key but he doesn’t seem to mind!

Still have most of my Christmas shopping to do!! I’ll just have to do 3 or 4 short trips into town this week and then come home for a rest. My husband happily volunteers to do it all, but the caveat is usually ‘if you give me a list’ But if I knew what I was going to buy I could just have ordered online anyway! I know nobody would mind this year, but it’s just frustrating. All this free time and can’t really use it.

Anyway, moan moan bah humbug, sorry. I love Chriatmas and just want it to be perfect.

Watching The Bishop’s Wife on TV at the mo - that’ll get me in the mood ???

Glad you are feeling a bit better Jayne and hope your temp stays down Ruth.

Hope everyone else is feeling ok xxx

Oh Ele, it’s a shame that you can’t enjoy this hiatus between chemo and your rads starting early in the New Year a bit more. Hope you start to perk up in time for Christmas.

My temp has now gone down although I have napped the afternoon away and achieved absolutely nothing which is a shame. I am sure that I now sleep more than my cats.

Hoping to do the last bits of Christmas shopping on the way to the cinema tomorrow but am aware that I might be trying to fit in too much in one go. We shall see.

Thanks Ruth, I’ve decided to stop taking the Lanzoprozole as I’m now wondering if it’s that that’s making me feel sick. Onco said to carry on for 6 weeks after last chemo bit I’m hoping heartburn would have gone by itself by now so thought I would experiment…fingers crossed!

How was the cinema and Christmas shopping? Was it Star Wars you were going to see? Hope your energy held up x

Hi Ele, will be interested to hear the results of your experiment. I’m taking that as well but only usually for the first week or so after a dose as things usually settle down after that. We are so pumped up with drugs that who knows what is causing it all?

Yes, Star Wars. Really enjoyed it and managed to totally switch off my brain for a few hours which was great. And did some shopping too. Managed to get through the entire day yesterday without a siesta. Feet hurt today though and not sure if that’s to do with the relatively intense activity of yesterday after weeks of them not doing much except being in slippers or a chemo SE. Possibly both.

My main moan today is that our boiler has started to play up. Arghh. Oh well, it is actually sunny outside so I might pop out and see if I can get a bit of vitamin D at some point in the next few hours.

Hope you have a good day.

Well, felt a bit better yesterday and quite a bit better today, and so far no sign of hertburn returning. Fingers crossed, touch wood etc! It’s probably just tuning rather than stopping the lanz but who knows…I’d just rather not be taking stuff anyway!

Glad you enjoyed SW…we are going to all go over the hols. Did some Christmas shopping yesterday, more to do today. Definitely on the mend as felt OK even after a few hours in town. Finally, hurrah (again, touch wood , fingers crossed, don’t jinx it…)

Hope everyone else is doing ok…keep your chins up (only one chin each, unlike my double/treble chin

Xxx

Morning all.

I now have a couple of blisters on my small toes and big toes are rather tender. Nails seem okay, it’s just the undersides. I hope that the Udder cream that has been recommended hurries up and arrives in the mail.

All Christmas shopping now done although still have some wrapping to do and several friends have birthdays between Christmas and New Year so need to sort that out. I am heading out for lunch today. Very windy here in South London so hope my headwear stays intact.

Festive felicitations to all.

Ruth xxxx

LOL, I hope not! x

Rosie, my feet are so sore. Just been out for lunch with my two best chums and the ten minute walk back from the bus stop was painful. It’s my little toes and the underside of some of the others that look like they have blisters. Nails seem okay at the moment but know what you mean about the upkeep of the dark nail varnish. Trying to find the end of the sellotape and present wrapping in general does not help with that either!

I’ll stop moaning now as don’t feel too bad apart from that.

Ruth xx

‘Pink sisters’ Rosie, I like that…or maybe ‘Pisters’ for short? ?
Agree about the weight CB Jojo, though in my case I can’t deny the cause…just hoping nobody buys me a onesie for Christmas or I will look like George Dawes (he’s a baby, he’s a baby!)

Hope your feet recover Ruth X

Ha ha Ele J x I briefly chucked on a onsie at weekend when I had got out of shower and was ironing something to wear and hubby said I looked like George Dawes x!

Hi everyone.Sorry I’ve been out of the loop for a while. I’ve been following your threads but not posted comments. I’m pleased to say that the FEC 4 is now over??? now on weekly taxol. Hoping SE aren’t so bad. FEC for me was awful , several infections,a hospital admission and shingles.Sooo many drugs to take. But now a new chapter , I wonder what it will bring. No more GCSF injections ???.would like to join the FB page… Please tell me how.x

good luck to everyone having treatment this week xxxxx

Hi ladies, been so busy at work this week and getting final bits of Christmas shopping done. Well today I went to work till lunch, got home made a trifle, lemon cheesecake, my home made stuffing, all the veggies done for tomorrow and table all laid, I’ve only got 8 for dinner this year, so a quiet one. So glad I feel able to do it at the mo, but already on countdown for T2 on NYE, urrrgh!!! I know what’s to come this time.

i hope you all have a fabulous, and peaceful Christmas with your loved ones xxx

Have as good Christmas as possible ladies xxx

I get an extension on my next chemo as it would have fallen on New Year’s day so I’ve been shunted to Tuesday 5th. My veins will probably be grateful for the extra days as my chemo arm is quite sore again.

But apart from that I’m feeling pretty good.

Hope everyone has a lovely Christmas and feels as well as possible. Thank you lovely people for all your support and friendship this year.

Ruth xx
