Fantastic! That’s handy to know for Christmas time ?
Well done Sam and hope you are all coping from each pier in the week
I just got back from mri scan had to lie on my back with my legs elevated (no rude comments please ?) on cushion things and do some deep breathing (again no rude comments) ? was a weird sensation but time went quickly and not painful x felt a little disorientated when brought out the machine but a glass of water sorted me out xx
Hope this evening finds you all well and in good spirits xx
Start of that should have been hope you are all coping from earlier treatment this week x
Sam34 great to hear your chemo went ok and you managed the cold cap. Karana and chaffinch glad you’re also doing ok day one after chemo. Chaffinch, I’ve also found the sea bands a bit uncomfortable at times but still persevering. Cassie good to hear there is hope without the sea bands lol. I went for a walk to the local Tesco (about 30 mins) to get more ginger nuts (OH quickly ate them all up after I gave him permission to have one)!
Marg yes we start together my shave is Monday with my sister and my sister donating her hair to little princess trust
If you go to brave the shave it tells you how to donate your hair x you don’t have to sign up to get the details of that part x me and my sister now up to £1375 for brave the shave xx
Ha ha Karana you made me laugh about the weeing, as I’ve just said to OH that’s all I seem to do too and I also had a headache on day one, mines worn off a bit today although still feel a bit dizzy at times.
Marg, I also had long hair and cut it off about 1 1/2 weeks before I started chemo. Wished I’d done it years ago, everyone loved it and thought it made me look younger.
SueW this journey is all Rock n Roll!! Karana i took my steroids with breakfast and 2nd dose no later than 1pm as the can stop you sleeping. Do take them though as they are important and only for a couple of days. After a great day yeaterday i have been shattered and have felt fluey today. Had my last injection today too so will hopefully see further improvement now. Hope everyone gets a decent sleep xxc
I have been weeing all afternoon too! I also wish that I’d had my hair cut earlier because I also got loads of positive comments.
Started to feel sick again at about 6:30 but managed to eat a plain omelette and half a slice of bread and that had helped. I have been watching the football but it’s quite boring to might head off to bed in a bit.
I’m just off to bed ready for first chemo tomorrow. Just wondered if anyone else starts tomorrow as well? Hope you are all as well as can be expected and any side effects are easing off xx
Hello, I am due to start my chemo on Friday 13th October, great day to start that eh!
I am nervous about the side effects, not bothered about losing my hair, its just the anticipation of the other side effects.
I have looked on the Sept 2017 thread for things to get in & take with me to chemo, has anyone else got anymore hints & tips not mentioned on that thread?
It’s not so nice to have joined the forum becuase if the circumstances which has brought us here, but it’s so lovely to read all the encourgament & help.
Claire xx
Good luck tomorrow Runnerbean. Chafginch i hope you have a better night. You are doing great although you might not feel like it. Mrsrims my advice is to get movicol from your doctor and take it from the day before chemo - if you are having fec that is - as the tablets do bung you up. Otherwise all the advice and tips on the september thread are amazing and have helped me through my first FEC xx
Mrs rims me and Marg start Friday 13 th too but I met my hubby on Friday 13th 33 years ago so when this Friday 13 th gives me 33 years I will be 83 so all good xxx
Good luck runnerbean x
Hoping everyone has s restful night big hugs x
Good luck Runnerbean.
I had a baby on Friday 13th and she’s a star.
I slept pretty well last night. Woke up for a wee a few times but otherwise ok and no nausea. Feeling tired and a bit nauseous this morning and I think the steroids make me a bit panicky for the first few hours after taking them.
Chaffinch you are doing fab keep smiling hun xx
Good luck Runnerbean, hope it goes well for you today!
mrs rims, I also was told that it’s the drug ordansetron they give you for antisickness that bungs you up and was given laxido by oncologists to start taking day after chemo if I didn’t go as normal as they said it’s best to get on top of it straight away. They also advised golden Linseeds/ flaxseeds which you can get in holland and Barrett (ground is best) although you need to be careful as they can be quite strong.
I’m day 3 after first chemo session and I my foggyhead is mostly gone now and I feel ok. Last day of meds today so hope I don’t have a crash tomorrow. Cassie, Ali49 how did you feel the first day after stopping your meds, did you still need to use the donperidone at all? I’ve been told I can use that if I still have any nausea.
chaffinch, glad you’re doing ok. I also find I get a bit jittery after the steroids in the morning.
Karana, Sam34 and mikala, hope you’re all fairing well this morning.
Meesh fab info sharing I am monitoring this constantly ready for next week and you are all so encouraging and give practical advice on dealing with side effects ??? you are all great x
I had chemo Thursday 28th and my crash came at about 8pm. I only had steroids before chemo and didn’t have any to continue at home. I also wasn’t sure when the steroids and anti sickness were going to wear off. I started feeling a bit sick which quickly turned into a dash to the bathroom. Once anti sickness kicked in I was fine. After that I took them at the first hint of nausea and wasn’t sock at all. The last one I took was Sunday night before bed and haven’t took any since. Sea bands came off Tuesday. Not on any meds now. Appetite was poor for a few days not helped by dry mouth and everything tasting weird. Taste buds are still a bit muted but eating normally again.
Anyone feeling rough today don’t worry it will get better
Cassie x
Yes sorry maybe tmi for some, but I think it was on the September thread that I read some of them had a terrible time with being bunged up, so I did as I was told on that front and haven’t had any real problem. Others had diarrhoea so I prepared for both and just waited to see which way I went! I also listened to the drinking water advice (2-3litres) day before chemo, on day and day after and I think that’s really helped too.
I would rather have every fact possible to be prepared x thanks for updat Cassie xx
When I see you lovely ladies doing okay it gives me strength x
