I was peri menopausal at 47 but had a mirena cool which was removed in July but no period since removal they have said they will do blood tests to see if I have gone through menopause also been told I need hormone blockers as I am oestrogen and progesterone positive but HER negative.how excitingly a wedding to look forward too have you been looking at outfits yet? My first cycle went smoothly thanks, all as planned, I got home around 2pm and just flaked out on the sofa then went to bed, I just kind of felt spacey and whooshy. I felt normal when I woke up on day 2, but then it hit again around 2.30pm and although it lasted into the evening, it wasn’t as persistent. We’ll just see how tomorrow goes ? My nurse said this is quite a normal side effect of the C part of the FEC.
I think my husband has felt it more with running around after 3 of us to be honest (we had a complete childcare disaster on Monday, literally everyone who was lined up to help came down with the sickness bug!), but my mum’s back today so that will help immensely.
Flu jab - I was told to have mine as early as possible and my GP surgery were amazing and called me as soon as they had them in (about 10 days before starting chemo)

Hi Reboot glad your first one went ok. Gives me hope for my first one tomorrow. Though I am getting nervous now. Though I’ve had bloods done this morning and I think I’m more worried that they’ll say they can’t do it and need to postpone.

Hi Patchworkgirl I’m in to see oncologist at 8.30 then start chemo sometimes after. I’m ready to get it done now!
Hi Whytefawn, all the best for your first one, and take it easy on yourself for the first few days. I realise now I should have been resting much more than I have done!
At least if you are delayed, you know it’s in your best interests xx I’m so conscious that we’re heading into winter with all the bugs around and I’ll be delayed at some point too.
I have booked my flu jab for tomorrow x never had 1 before do they make you feel ill after? X

Hi All, first chemo done and it was fine. Had the cannula in and then sat there chatting while the different drugs and flushes went in. It was all very calm and organised. Apt was 10am and i was finished by 12.30. Had a cup of tea and biscuits during it too. Came home and had chicken soup!! Just feel a bit tired now. People starting tomorrow it will be fine. Nurses are so good and reassuring. Sending you all a hug xx

Good luck to everyone starting today, hope the side effects aren’t too bad for you all. Keep in touch when you can. I am having my flu jab on Saturday morning. Was just told to tell them that I was about to start chemo.
I have been reading the September thread and diarrhoea seems to be quite a problem with a lot of people having to take Imodium. I am expecting the opposite problem because I am usually more that way but who knows!
The other thing that comes through loud and clear is don’t suffer in silence. If you are bothered by bad sickness or other side effects, make sure you contact your team because they can usually adjust your meds to help you out.
That’s what I’ve been told, if one antisickness doesn’t work for you, they have others they can try. Also try to eat something to subside nausea like dry biscuits or dry toast first and then take the tablets. I’ve been getting on fine like that ?
Also don’t keep quiet about side effects, call with any questions. They’d rather you ask x
