Hi ladies, I have got my planning on the 17th October, so I may just qualify for the October radiotherapy club. I have been told I will have 15 sessions plus 5 targeted where the tumour was, has anyone else had this many sessions and will it lead to more effects from the radiotherapy. Fezzy xx
Hello all… day 3 today but couldn’t go ahead as the measurements were not right something to do with lung volume and they wasn’t happy. I have had seromas so whether it’s that. I’ve got to go tomorrow for maybe another planning scan.
Fezzy I have heard of a lot of ladies that have to have 5 extra sessions so i wouldnt worry.xxx
Hi JWD
Oh dear sorry you’ve got to go through planning again as if there isn’t enough to cope with. Wonder what they mean about lung volume, do let us know if you dont mind telling. X
Do you know how long before a session you can apply cream, most of my sessions are late afternoon and I have been using E45 in the morning and at lunch time then before bed.
I hope all goes well for you tomorrow. I start on the 11th so that’s Thursday then Friday. Weekend off then full 5 days for 2 weeks and 3 days the last week.
I’ll be a seasoned traveller then I hate the idea of travelling almost an hour for 15/30 mins then an hour home.
That’s such a journey for you. It’s the travelling that will probably tire you out as the treatment is so quick. When they did a scan this morning all my measurements had changed they work in milimetres and they wasn’t happy.i think I have a seroma so until I go tomorrow I’m not sure what will happen. It’s reassuring that they like to be so exact. Susan yours will be done and dusted before you know it. Xxx
JWD
Is your seroma getting smaller or larger as you’ve had 2 sessions already. I’ve a seroma too they said it draining on it’s own must be able to tell on the scan.
Take care
Susan xx
Hello ladies. I have just popped over from September Rads thread to say hi. I finished today and rang the bell loud and clear. The lovely ladies on the forum helped me a lot so if any of you have any questions please ask away !
My main advice would be to drink your water - it really helps with the fatigue and moisturise !!! Lots. Also if you have any issues don’t be worried about talking to your radiotherapists they have heard it all before. My girls and boys were really great and offered advice and reassurance when I needed it … they gave me cooling pads when it all got a bit warm towards the end… you can all get through this and come out the other end… oh and by the way in all my sessions I still haven’t found an elegant way to get on or off the bed ? & ? to you all.
Well done wombat woo on finishing rads??
Susan they are not sure about seroma. When I went last friday to see my oncologist she checked my implant and put a needle in to aspirate any fluid and she was pleased to say there wasn’t any. However on 3rd day of rads there was a change when they tried to set me up in the right position so I’m not sure what’s going on. I will see what they say today.xx
Well done wombat woo for finishing rads bet it’s a great feeling. X
Thanks ladybower I’ll probably stick to my schedule for putting on cream then. X
Good luck for today JWD X

Thanks for the message Thistle. Glad you are ok. I’m looking forward to this all being over, although I do still have bisphosphonates for a couple of years.

Evening ladies
What an awful day today has been. My implant has got bigger since planning scan. So I’ve had to have planning scan again and will start rads from scratch.
We got results for my husband today his cancer has returned in the oesophagus and gone in lymph nodes and liver… he’s to start chemo soon for 3 months then a scan. I can’t believe this is happening.
Have a good weekend everyone.xxx
Oh no JWD all too much… sending big squishy hugs ? ??

Hello ladies started my rads again today after there being a problem with my first planning scan. So hopefully lets get these 15 sessions done …Good luck for Thursday susan???
Hi JWD
Off you go again lol count the days down.
Good Luck.
I had a bit of a melt down today really didnt want to start rads at all. Had a tearful chat with my Sister but came to my senses in the end.
I’m not sure if my thyroid is acting up as that makes me tearful and I’ve slight tremours in hands another sign.
I get blood test results tomorrow so will see.
Isn’t all this fun if it isn’t one thing it’s another.
Take care Susan ?
