@tessie86 isn’t it weird how things differ from surgeon to surgeon, I had a mastectomy and had no dressing at all just steri strips over glue and then several layers of stitches. I was discharged with just a loose gauze pad over that under a binder.
@Mairead_49 Just bog standard silk squares st 80p each you could cut them in 4 and feel no guilt about use once and ditch as they’ll fray a bit.
Popped one under my nightwear vest top last night. Stayed in place. Zero rubbing. Happy nipple, lol.
Got to take the wins.

@tessie86 Hurrah to week 2 I took showers straight away … covered dressing with pantliners then popped a facecloth over the top and clamped it in place with my arm. Stayed dry. One armed shower better than no shower. Once I got out of the shower and dried off. Used the same face cloth to give my arm a wash at the sink. Worked a charm. Incision sites healed clean (no infection or hardening) and lovely.
Keep up the stretching exercises

Voluntary breath hold technique app used by Southampton Bit of fun, distraction and help you not freak out holding your breath to protect your heart. I’m a lefty BC.
Hope this helps.

Oooh get you! I never got that. Great idea though. I wonder how this could be applied at dental surgeries? Obvs not holding breath, but for regulating breath.
@lumpybyebye really helpful….together with the silk squares recommendation (ordering today!). I also have a left sided bc, CT planning on 16 April and RT at Southampton, so really useful to see how they do it….am hoping this part is better for you than the chemo, as I could see that was really rough x
@lumpybyebye I’ve got radiotherapy starting tomorrow, I’d better go and check my deodorant! I can’t remember if I was told not to wear any just before the session (ie wash it off,) or is it the whole 3 weeks we shouldn’t put it on if it’s got metal in?
Might buy some of those silk squares as well they look nice. Was your moisturiser prescribed or something you researched? I feel I’ve dropped the ball on radio prep, I’m still so tired from chemo
Hey orchid2. I lurked on the radiotherapy threads for a bit and gleamed the info that worked best. The spray is brilliant as it stops you rubbing your skin as it is getting use to the treatment. The RT is for the peak times, as it is cumulative - for me session 10 onwards with main issuses after active treatment for two weeks. Arm gloves are brilliant because it is bloody freezing in the room. Plus, arms are above your head in arm stirrups, blood drains, brrrrr. Found it is triggering numbness. D’oh.
Good luck, 1st measuring appointment is longest. Others are quite quick. Im still waiting at the moment for my 4.50pm appointment!!! Hiccup with machines today- pushing treatment times.

@orchid2 goos luck on first radiotherapy session, hope it goes ok!
Struggling to keep up with all the different things going on hope everyone is doing ok with whatever stage they are at….surgery results day today for me, appointment at 5pm…honestly why so late I’m sure they don’t realise how stressful it is!
