@lumpybyebye thanks for the tips, and I’ll keep away from the rads board
@Mairead_49 So glad your port is out! Fingers crossed for a smooth recovery My wound hasn’t hurt at all really. A bit sore for about 24hours but that was it. I’m slightly allergic to the sticky plaster on the dressing, so that has caused a bit of redness and irritation, but overall it’s a small price to pay.
@lumpybyebye thank you for the recommendations on moisturiser- I’ve brought both and been using the aqueous cream since chemo too when you recommended- the spray moisturiser is so lovely! Can also highly recommend! Xx good luck with the last RT treatments - I’m going tomorrow for my scan, staying well away from the chats!
@Mairead_49 glad the port is gone! Another thing ticked off!
Morning All, I think we have all given enough to Breast Cancer, but I am currently training to do a 15.1 mile walk overnight for Walk the Walk, which is a Breast Cancer charity on Saturday 16th May (likely to be the week of Radio… should be interesting). I know alot of you are not working at the moment and no pressure, but if anyone would like to sponsor me, then I have popped a link below. I have 35 friends and family doing this with me, so hopefully they can get me to the finish line
I had my rads mark up appointment this morning. All fine. I thought I was going to feel really self conscious but everyone was really nice and just matter of fact about it all. They see it all the time I guess and it’s just a job to them.
@poptart My oncologist is continuing with her approach of recover from one therapy before the next. I’ve the next few weeks to allow the Rads to reach it’s peak and settle.
I’m currently cross tapering SSRI to SNRI which is giving me its own little fun show with SE. This is so I can safely start Ribociclib plus the new SNRI helps with Anastrozole SE as well as being an antidepressant, I can be a misery!
Onco on 7th May after bloods and ECG to baseline my heart. 8th May Zolendronic Acid infusion. Following Monday Ribo starts. I should then be on all my new meds for the next few years!!!
Shitting it about Ribociclib as it appears to throw quite a few curve balls over the inital 4 - 6 cycles - I’ve got 36. Arghhhh.
Do you know your next steps after Rads yet?
K
PS I bough myself a magic wand for contactless payments - merrily pinging payments and amusing customer service. Life is to short.
It sounds like you have a solid plan going forwards but it also sounds like a lot. I really hope it all goes smoothly for you and the side effects are minimal.
My rads start on 29th. Then I’m done I’m triple negative so none of the immunotherapy or hormone treatments will work for me.
I don’t know how I feel about it to be honest. Glad that I won’t have any more treatments to deal with but also a bit scared as there is literally nothing else they can offer me to help ensure it doesn’t come back.
Just after my initial diagnosis appointment the (insensitive) BC nurse said “Ah, your triple negative so there’s not much we an offer you apart from surgery, chemo and radiation. Your options are really limited I’m afraid, let’s just hope that does the trick”
@poptart that doesn’t feel like the most helpful thing your BCN could have said. Maybe ‘and we have some great treatments…surgery, chemo, and then radiation just to be triple sure’. Honestly. Same information, different packaging. xxx
Hi @poptart also triple negative and I feel a bit like you , and wonder how I will feel at end of radiotherapy, maybe a bit like where’s my safety net now? I’m hoping I can just try to be in denial about risks…… But yes, terrible choice of words from oncologist !!!
