October 2025 chemo starters

@tigress42 i slept better last night, just went for my first walk outside since chemo Friday and feel tired now, and so cold, I was only out 20 minutes lol

Thank you for the advice with warming up the injection by holding.

Have been staying at my parents for the weekend but heading home later, I live on my own so a little nervous about that.

@rbf @loupy I think you are two weeks and one week respectively ahead of me regarding hair loss. My first infusion ended up being 23rd instead of 2nd October. I’m a Thursday girl.

Just wanted to say I’m very grateful of you sharing your journey on how your scalp is feeling and your hair loss so I know when to anticipate the hair fall.

A journey hard on so many levels :smiling_face_with_three_hearts: just wanted to say thank you, and to anyone else who isn’t cold capping

(it’s tricky now to keep up with who posted what, but so wonderful to such a supportive group) :sunny:

Hi @lumpybyebye, it was me with the chest pain. Unfortunately, after all the tests mine turned out to be a pulmonary embolism. I am on on blood thinners and doing ok. I did have bad indegestion on days 3-7 so i might also ask iif upping the omeprazole might help.

I am going for round 2 on Thursday so need to start preparing. I have been feeling well and normal most of this week and have been a bit lax with the hydration and polybalming. I also stopped doing the post surgery excerises and need to start them again as i am getting more armpit pain. The hair is still hanging on, about to do my once daily hair brushing so fingers crossed it doest shed.
I too really appreciate this thread. It is good to read how everyone is doing and to feel less alone x

Hi @tigress42 yes I started 14th and had second one last Tuesday, had noticed some thinning but yesterday in the shower it came out in handfuls. Thanks for the advice @rbf i think I will shave it this week, a friend is coming to do it - just know it’s a part of all this that will be hard on the teenagers - think I worry more about them than me…
Love this group - just reading the posts makes me feel better just a little a bit!
Lots of love to all :two_hearts:

Hi ladies, i have clippered my hair to a number and my husband has just got me a lint roller as apparently it will help tease the hair out of the follicle rather than if you shave to bald which will leave stuble which feels like splinters under the skin xx

I am on EC treatment too, and I have had the orange wee. It’s very strange.

Hope you are all doing well, and having a good weekend?

Sending love to you all. xx

This is interesting as I feel like my hair is hurting too. I’m a week past my first EC tomo and yesterday and today my scalp feels tight. Does it mean it’s starting ? I’m trying so so hard to hope not but it absolutely feels something.

Hi everyone. I am just catching up on the thread. Can’t believe I’ll be a week since my first WC tomo. Had my last filgrastim injection today and sickness meds on 12 hours now not 6. Not sure when I dare try to stop for how poorly I was at the start.

Hope everyone is holding up and getting to the next day every day no matter how bad it was. We will all get there it’s just going to take time.

In other news I ran out of Pringles and have been in my children’s packed lunch stash for the chepao Iceland 3 mini fake Pringles for £1. They hit the spot though too :joy:

Hi, so I am day 10 and have my second EC this Friday . My hair feels exactly the same, tight and uncomfortable in a wierd way. I said to my husband that it feels like I’ve been wearing a tight baseball cap…i don’t know how else to explain it lol.
My chemo nurse said in her experience with EC it begins on Day 14.
I did my last inspection tonight and i now have dry lips and my mouth is tender… it really is a surprise a day at this point.
I do wonder if i will wake up Thursday to the hair loss starting. I will keep you posted xx

It’s the fear of it isn’t it. All of this is the unknown and what will it be like? What will it feel like ? My head definitely hurts but I don’t know what it means or how bad it’ll be. Let me know how you get on x try to not be too upset x

Hi @tan1988 i have just seen your post and wanted to message as i was diagnosed in September with IBC invasive ductal carcinoma with spread to the auxiliary and subpectural lymph nodes, although they haven’t confirmed the number of lymph nodes.
I had my first EC chemo on the 24th Oct and have 3 more cycles fortnightly and then 12 weekly cycles of Pacitaxol and then the plan is a mastectomy and node clearance
I haven’t come across anyone else with IBC xx

Ugh I’m feeling awful!
Just called the 24 hour line, but they just said go to A&E … which I’m soooo reluctant to do as our trust has outbreaks of norovirus, flu and COVID in the hospital, which I really don’t want to be around!!!
Also not that easy to just go to A&E at 1am with a 4 year old and a dog in the house :see_no_evil:
Thinking I’ll just attempt to ride it out until 8am and try the day unit? Obviously if I get worse I’ll have to rethink, but anyone else feel vulnerable and nervous at the idea of going to hospital at the moment?
Feeling sorry for myself :pensive:

@rbf How’s it going … I’m awake because I slept too much during today. Are you sore in an area? Nausea? Pain joints, muscles?
I’m on TC same as you and had #2 on Wednesday. Even though I’m taking double dose Omeprazole I’m finding i do need to take a midnight / during the night Gaviscon top up for esophageal pain. Nausea - still popping hospital pills 3 times per day until day 7, regardless. I am on heavy duty painkiller codeine for days 5-7, worst days.
Have you anything in that can ease symptoms?
If in doubt call again.
No Gaviscon, a banana does help the esophageal pain, old wives trick. Check with BCN but you can take ibuprofen and paracetamol together. Ice packs / frozen veg in a tea towel or a warm shower for pains.
Hope you get some respite.
Any severe chest pain - A&E

Wear a scarf / face mask. Take antibac with you. I survived 3 days on a ward last time with same panic as you, it is so frightening with no immune system!

Thank you for this…
I’m mainly feeling like I’ve got awful flu or something, and I feel shaky and really yuck. My tongue and throat are so sore that I’m struggling to swallow so probably not really drinking enough. I do feel refluxy and a bit queasy, and my guts have gone to hell same as this point last cycle! I do actually have some gaviscon, that’s a good idea.
Taken meds for the bone pain.
My temperature has been all over the place during the night, swinging between 36.7 and 38.8… it was 38.5 when I called them and I took paracetamol after that.

When you went in to hospital last cycle, did you have to go via A&E? I just wish there was a different way to get checked! I will call the day unit at 8, but I wonder if they’ll also just send through A&E?

@rbf the day unit should take you in there once they’re open that’s where I went - hope you get sorted :two_hearts:
