October 2025 chemo starters

Oooh, do they have adjustable shoulder straps @lumpybyebye?

Yes they do🥰

But not my awkward size of small band-large cup :sleepy: boo! Such a good price too!
Thanks for the link though, I’m sure others will find it really useful x

Oooh no, wait…I’ve found some which are not moulded, just S, M, L, etc! Hurrah, 2 for £15!..thank you so much @lumpybyebye!!

No, I give up, not available anywhere near me…and no home delivery

@slc1 I was very firmly told that they would rather that I call, than delay calling about anything. In fact they apparently tell people off for not calling sooner! So I’d call them. It might take time to arrange alternative meds if needed too.

I’ve already called twice - flushed hot face, just checking it was the steroids and just now to ask what I can take to get my bowels moving as they things aren’t moving as normal. Sorry if tmi! :slightly_smiling_face:

I had a letter come through for the referral to hairdresser i wasn’t expecting it tbh so maybe if you haven’t heard by your first treatment defo ask.
Great news you have some dates now  something to work towards and prepare yourself! :kissing_heart:

I was sent home with a stool softener and purge tablets (for last resort!), so I’m sure they will be able to give you what you need @buggeringon x
I myself am on ‘the softener’ lol! My nurse also said it was the Ondansetron.
Oh the joys!

I have also now got a nasty taste in my mouth. If you got your Little Lifts goody boxes, I have just found some chewing gum in there for that very thing, hurrah!

@slc1 and @buggeringon, how are you both getting on with the Filgrastim injection? It’s my first today and im not looking forward to it. My husband is trying to get some emla cream.

I also start today!
i’m gunna do mine tonight about 8ish!
yh not really looking forward to it either!
When i was a District nurse i would go give these :see_no_evil: never thought id be injecting myself! :sob:
Good luck your be fine!
someone told me to take paracetamol and an anti-histamine not sure if anyone knows that works but might try without today and then see how i go. xx

I’ve seen that the antihistamine is to help reduce the bone pain which comes with the Filgrastim injection - it’s Loratadine which I have seen mentioned multiple times which is usually branded Clarityn but there are cheaper non branded options of Loratadine

Arghhhhh…
Just had a phone call from my oncologist! Due to start chemo on Monday, they now want me in tomorrow to fit a PICC and redo my bloods- liver results elevated. My hand is 3/4 bruised from the last bloods they took as my arm veins hid. I was told I’d get my 1st chemo through cannula, panic mode.

I have Genetic Haemochromatosis (iron load / opposite to anaemia - causes liver, joint and heart problems) and they’ve stopped venesections due to cancer. I told them I was symptomatic in my joints but won’t take my blood. Catch 22. Arghhhh.

So PICC, new blood panel, decide whether to start me on chemo on Monday or delay. Numbers will only recover if they take my blood. Trying to get two specialisms to talk to each other, nightmare. Here endith my rant.

@lumpybyebye I’m sorry, this must be hard. This journey is difficulty already without additional complications. I hope it all gets sorted for you xx

Well just got another curve ball from my GP… I have my flu and covid jabs on Saturday pre Chemo, lol. Due to neuropathy in my left arm from Aux and PICC line in right I have to get injected in both my thighs!!! Cancer - the gift that keeps giving, strictly no return policy. I am definitely having a WTAF day. Im going to be waddling into the chemo ward like some big disgruntled duck on Monday. No limbs functioning normally. God you have to laugh :rofl::rofl:

I’m so sorry @lumpybyebye. My chemo was delayed waiting for my neurologist from a different hospital to reply to say it was ok. It’s so frustrating! I have never cried down the phone at so many people in my whole life, I was mortified, but it feels as though no-one cares, doesnt it. I really hope they get things sorted out for you x

@slc1 I guess we just try tonight and adapt accordingly! I had no idea about them, so it was A Shock! No lovely district nurses now I assume sadly…

@dilly sorry , am not on that injection. Hope you are okay x

I’ve got some emla cream, so hoping if I use that for the first two goes it will build my confidence! I’d be fine if it was an autoinjector…
I’m aiming for 8pm too…so we can do it together lol

I’ll be on herceptin injections every 3 weeks after chemo. (Having herceptin at chemo unit initially). I have no intention of jabbing myself, will get the dn’s to do it. Plus it will give me a check in every 3 weeks with a health care professional who’s there to look after me.
