Hi all hope you’re doing well. Ive a bit of a strange question about hormone therapy treatment. I was on Anastrozole but it increased my blood pressure so I was changed onto Exemestane which I have tolerated really well. Although for the last week Ive had really weak arm muscles and very sore swollen fingers particularly on the right, which is my unaffected side. My right arm but particularly the hand is much hotter than the left.
Just wondered if anyone has had similar issues? Im debating whether to go see GP or contact BCN for an oncology appointment. Xx
I would definitely see someone about this. Either ring your BCN or Gp, whichever one is most likely to see you first. It’s probably nothing to worry about but best to get it checked out x
That sounds as though it might be an infection ( heat )and you need to be seen by someone soon - BCN if they can see you quickly otherwise your GP . I also found out from a Lymphoedema Specialist Nurse at our support group that it’s possible to get lymphoedema in the opposite side to surgery because fluid that can’t drain gets shunted across instead . I’m not saying that’s what it is - even the most qualified person couldn’t say for sure until you have been seen but it may be something other a side effect from your medication. Xx
Thankyou for reply I just dont know what we are supposed to do about these odd symptoms. Ive got GP appointment for 10th march, first one I could get some maybe bcn first port of call but may not be related! So hard to know what to do x
Thanks. That’s interesting I never thought of lymphodema in the opposite side! Surgery was on left breastbone area. My right hand keeps swelling at night. I just keep thinking is it arthritis or fluid or something. Its just strange when its the wrong side! X
I too have weird hand symptoms from Letrozole- on the opposite side to the disease. My right arm & hand get pins/needles, weakness and finger swelling and pain. Hard to open jars, write, even driving, this only started when medication started. Particularly bad on waking.
It sounds like we have the same symptoms! Ive had a steroid injection in my thumb joint to see if it will improve my ability to use it. I do have arthritis in thumb and fingers so im thinking the Extremesine has caused a flare up. I cant blame arthritis for the rest of my arm pain so BCN has advised a month off the tablets and getting my neck reviewed as I also have degenerative disc disease! Falling apart slowly!
