Am 72, had recurrence in 2007 (first diagnosed in 1990) and have been on Arimidex for 4 years. Still getting night sweats but today woke up to find I was bleeding - am really worried and have appt to see gynae next week. No partners and just wondered if this had happened to anyone else??
Hi Olivia, I only had bleeding like you describe when I started new Hormone tablets ( I have been on 4 of them and am now on Femara.) I am glad that you have made an appointment to see your GP but how about phoning a Breast care Nurse at the hospital you attend and discuss it with her tomorrow? I hope it is nothing but will be thinking about you anyway. Hugs, Val
Just had internal pelvic scan and smear - awaiting results - why do they take so long??
Waiting is the pits and the hardest part of the whole thing. Did they give you an idea just how long you will need to wait? Thinking of you. Hugs, Val
Hi - just read your post - me too - have been on Arimedex for 9 months and 6 weeks back had a slight bleed.I have not seen a period for 15 years - I’m 60 so as you can imagine was not prepared. No-one had said this might happen as a s.e. Have been for an ultrasound and results ( took 6 days ) showed fibroids ( small ) but a increase in uterus wall lining (more than is to be expected for my age group) I have been refered to a gyno/ onocology specialist but have a 3 week wait. My mind is in overdrive! have had no reoccurrence since and almost wish I had not mentioned it to my consultant. Please let me know how you get on - thought I was alone on this one.
Hope you dont have to wait to long

Smear and scan normal. Gynae says it is not unusual as taking Arimidex, plus being post-menopausal means I am lacking oestrogen hence the bleed. This has now stopped completely. Gynae is asking my oncologist if I should have some oestrogen pessaries short term but I really don’t want to risk it. When I was on Tamoxifen I had to have a D & C as my uterus wall lining was too thick and I had a couple of polyps. I know exactly how you feel and am beginning to wonder if I made a mountain out of a molehill! Good Luck XX
Not at all Olivia. You got it checked out and that was the sensible thing to do. I had a similar bleed with a hormone tablet but never had another bleed after that. Great to hear you are okay.
Techo, I hope you get the same good result as Olivia. If you are available to go at any time why not phone the secretary to say that you could go at short notice. Often there is a cancellation and you could therefore be seen sooner. Just a thought. I did this and it worked for me! Let us know how you get on. Val
