Suffering with painful bladder syndrome. Symptoms very like constant cystitis, Is it safe to use oestrogen vaginal cream having had breast cancer that was ER+ and had spread to lymph?
Well I was told it was, I had IDC and 2 lymph nodes involved.

Hi,
I was diagnosed with ER+ breast cancer aged 51, had lumpectomy, radiotherapy and been on Tamoxifen for almost 5 years. Have vaginal atrophy, stress & urge incontinence and was using Replens and Sylks but didn’t find they helped much. My oncologist agreed I could be prescribed Estriol 0.01% vaginal cream. GP was reluctant to prescribe without getting the ok from oncologist. My urologist has also recommended Boots menopause & me vaginal moisturising gel.
I had invasive lobular cancer, ER+ with 30/ 32 positive nodes. I have been on aromatase inhibitors for nearly 3 years and just finished 2 years of abemaciclib. I have painful vaginal atrophy and have tried all the non-oestrogen vaginal moisturisers. My oncologist changed me from letrozole to exemestane which helped a little. Now that the abemaciclib is finished she has approved me trying the lowest dose oestrogen pessary available, Imvaggis 0.03 pessary. I have only been using it for a week so cant say if it’s working other than I had a painful stinging sensation the first couple of days which is wearing off. Fingers crossed. I have also been prescribed an external moisturiser, Dermol, that I apply twice a day. Again I have found that a big help. I would recommend reading “Me & My Menopausal Vagina” by Jane Lewis. She has had an awful time with vaginal atrophy, bladder problems and more and has some great advise.
