What joy and laughter this thread gave me on a morning that i woke up feeling terrible. Could not work out what was wrong with me until I realised that the shower was not draining…full of my hair, some of which was clinging to my wet body. In the third week of 1st chemo and its falling out fast. I am having supper with a friend tonight so may get her to shave it off. Hairs on my chin are still there though!!
keep it up girls, it brings sunshine to dark days
hugs for all
Maggie
I am thinking along the same lines as westside sue, when my hair grows back on my legs i wll have it waxed so hopefully it will be finer and eventually give up coming back! although i havnt lost the hair on my legs yet just head, life is so cruel!!
Although i have 4 more FEC treatments to go i am building my hopes for a lovely thick head of redish hair ( i had mousey brown thinish hair), I will be so gutted if it comes back grey!!
take care ladies jo xx
Well 4 days into first FEC and strands coming out - does everyone loose the brows and lashes too?!?

Iam just about to start my first round of epi and my biggest problem so far was the thought of losing my hair iam still undecided to go with the cap or not I have died my hair blond for the last 20 years so couldnt tell you what colour it is probably scare the S___ out of me when it comes in Ive told all my kids it was auburn before i dyed it so there gonna think iam a liar if it comes in dark and grey lol also the debate about other body hair Ill be glad when it all goes as i shave everything off anyway so plus side being i dont need to buy hair dye or fusion razors for months save myself a fortune lol
Gearing up for EC # 4 on Tuesday… eyebrows thinning a little. Grrrrr. And noticed a couple of eyelashes have chosen to jump ship. More grrrr…
Anyone found reasonable solutions for eyebrow/eyelash probs? Weirdly, I mind hair loss less than eyebrow loss!
Have been “out” with BC since day 1. Which has its advantages, but one of the slightly odd things to cope with is that people really, really want to help, and sometimes that comes out in strange ways. It’s just something to tactfully put up with, and I’ve learnt to appreciate the well-intentioned motivation behind the gesture.
The Norwegian flag bandana, for example. Don’t get me wrong, absolutely nothing wrong with Norway… but I’ve no known links, and neither does the person who gave it to me…
Hi
I’m due for my 2nd FEC on Thursday and having used the cold cap for the 1st one have a full head of hair! I’m not gloating honest because it’s a bit of a pain to look after. Some hairs are coming out but I’ve decided not to keep tugging at it as I’m sure a handful might give way. It’s quite brittle and I’ll deserve it if it does fall out as I’ve been washing it most (every!) days as I can’t stand it looking so awful. I have a wig lined up, sitting looking at me on it’s stand in my wardrobe, which I still think would be an easier option. I’ll probably give the cold cap another go next time and see what happens because if it’s going to fall out in odd places I’d rather be rid of it.
Down below is definitely going already but of course not the legs, underarms and chinny chin chin!
I know I’ll miss my eyelashes more than my hair if/when they go but as I hope to keep my eyebrows as I’ve never shaped them really thin so there could be some comb over opportunities there!
Hope you’re all coping with all this rubbish we have to deal with and these threads are great for laughs plus tips.

ps - Lisa, and anyone else losing hair, the wig lady told me not to shave your head but to get a grade 1 cut so there’s something between your head and the wig.
Hi Nicky
To add to your last comment I did a grade 1 but still lost all and was very smooth
Take Care

Update… day 56 in the poisionin of my body with taxotere…
Well 3rd Tax coming up this friday so half way there! Hair on head…receding from front so have a lovely whiter than white bit then my hair starts and then its got some lovely big white bald bit with comb over thin bits. Looks quite sad plus i was at bicester outlet yesterday and had a grandad cap on cause my hair at the sides is fine and back is patchy but you cant tell really…anyway went into diesel and quickly took my grandad cap off to try on a cap i liked and when i took it off my thin hair on top with the static from the crap diesel hat was standing up and loads of my hair came out…not thinking i used my hand to push my hair back and loads came out…so i was tryin to put my grandad cap back on whilst getting all the loose hair from the sides and off my top and off all the lovely display stuff…my other half was helping but i was so worried that people were watching and was quite shocked at the amount of hair that came away…so i left diesel with a lovely pile fo my hair on their floor…
…got outside and was in tears for the first time since it started binned the hair in my hands and continued to shop…didnt try anymore hats on…that night at home took grandad hat off and got my hairnet ready (like to sleep in one just easier the next morning), soflty as poss brushed hair and the top just came away…so i sobbed and sobbed like a good un…didnt loose my hair at front with FEC so wasnt so much a shock…i dont think i prepared myself properly to actually loose all my hair so my mum is coming down tomorrow and bringing clippers and im gona skin it why not hey.
Eyebrows and eyelashed ok…leg hair has not appeared wooohoooo…down below cant make up its mind!
last thing after the FEC my hair came back darker (with 3 grey hairs)…curly at first then straightened…my down below hair came back twice as thick! Not great for the lovelife lol! on that note…
Lots of love ladies
Hi
Who was the silly cow who said she hadn’t lost any hair? Guess that would be me then!
Well my hair must have logged on late at night, read the post about it looking so awful and has decided to leave. Obviously not all in one go, most of it is still sulking on my head! The beige carpet is looking lovely though with an interesting dark brown swirly pattern on it - I’m trying to blame the cat but I think she might up and leave as well and that would be bad.
As my hair has made my mind up for me I’ll not use the cold cap tomorrow and get my daughter to cut it really short before I get my hairdresser to tidy it up properly when I’m over my post chemo cr*p days. I can get used to the idea and my daughter gets to play hairdresser - don’t worry she is 19 and will hopefully do a better job than when she cut her younger sister’s hair when they were 5 and 3! With Early Learning Centre scissors no less. Or maybe it will be revenge time for the amount of shouting I did at her, hmmmm, will have to wait and see.
Well off to get my bloods done before ding, ding round 2 tomorrow. Then into town to sort a few more scarves, hopefully not leaving a trail behind like poor lynnc.

Hi
ooh this is a wooryyying one hair. Nicky I am now too scared to mention my current position in case I jinx myself but i did really feel for you and poor you lynn too. Life is cruel sometimes. I hope we can all laugh about this in the future when it is not so raw. Nicky check out H & M for lovely scarves but they are the longer ones or tie shop if you want skinny ones to fit tightish. I have my new look £1 sale caps in various colours ready. They sink right over my head and the peak covers my face so I can mingle when necessary without all my lovely 16 year old pupils spotting me and finding out miss is not really away for a ladies problem. It was a good blag to stop anyone asking questions and me booing all over my lovely tutor group. Just remembered what I wanted to say! In superdrug I saw eyebrow stencil sets if you have never drawn an eyebrow on like me, or beauty shops semi-permanently (crikey that was hard to spell with chemo brain) do eye pencil, etc that looks like eye lashes and needs no work (have not tried this, just heard) and I thought they might do eyebrows too. I thought when necessary I would find one I could park outside and book 9am on Mon morning when no-one there or have a mobile one to the house. Alternatively and this gave me the biggest laugh because I just cannot do this as I would wet myself laughing - you can buy stick on eye brows!! I did think Dennis Healey could make a come back but the family think the dog might try to eat them while I am asleep!!!
I could buy a range of eye brows to cover the patches as they appear. I know I am going to regret laughing about this but hope I gave you a laugh today too

Hi Lily
As always you manage to make me laugh.
To be honest I’m not too bothered about the hair issue. I’m so fussy about how my hair looks that if it’s not ‘perfect’ I hate it, so I’ll be better off having a lot of good (false) hair days than a lot of bad hair days. I have ben to H & M and got a lovely pink scarf and an ivory one. I’ve tried them on like a pony tail style and then pinned the long bits up which looks quite good. How practical this will be remains to be seen, if not I’ll cut them in half and wear them tighter. I don’t think the bandana look is for me and I’ve always hated wearing hats of any sort so I’m steering clear of caps etc for now - but who knows? I’ve got a ‘Buff’ - now there’s a boast! These are soft jersey sock type things with no feet! You can wear them in a number of ways (yet to be tested) and aren’t just for chemo patients. In fact my husband had heard of them before me as he’s a mad keen cyclist and quite a few people wear them for cycling either on their own or under helmets. I’m going for bright or pale colours as I’ll need a ‘lift’ to my face and darker shades don’t suit me - I’d look so ill I’m sure I’d get rushed to hospital!
I think I’ll let you try out the eyebrow wigs or kits and report back! I think if I stuck something on the cat would hunt them down as a quick snack between meals! I dyed my eyelashes before I started chemo which has meant I haven’t had to wear mascara all the time which also means not having to clean it off and risk pulling a few out. I’ll really miss them if/when they go as it will make such a difference to my face, let’s hope the critters hang on in there.
As for spelling and chemo brian - thank god for spell checkers! Mine highlights all my mistakes so I can correct them and make my posts read sensibly! However, it’s not learnt ‘chemo’ yet which is a pain as it’s going to be around for a while!
Must go now, lunch to scoff!
Thanks for the laughs - we definitely need to treat it like this. And hold onto your hair!
Nicky xx
Nicky
after what happened to you I will try very hard not to say the H word on this thread. Just a thought with so many of us BC buddies out there, you don’t see many people in head scarves do you, or is it just me not noticing?
Lily x
Hiya
Cracked up but defo gonna visit superdrugs for the stencil kit!! I did see the false eyebrows on web but have this image of being out in public having a pint (wishful thinking) and the things dropping off. Heard you can get them tatooed but thats a bit scary for me I think!! Love the caps but even though hair fairly short gonna miss the little bits sticking out underneath, even bought some cheap extensions to try and stick inside my hat (sad or what). Not keen on my wig, makes me look quite girly and older and so obvious to me that its a wig and doesnt feel very secure, looks nice with bands on but when move head backwards it moves, maybe it will grow on me! Gonna be lots of hats as I look like a pirate in headscarfts!!
Happy days! Touch wood only strands falling out so far but heard day 10 is d-day so might have a drink with friends on friday as a farewell to the hair - any excuse!!
p.s. Ive seen one person in a headscarf since I was DX, thats why Im worried about being out and about and stared at!!
xx
Well that’s it, girls, had 4th EC yesterday and hair now thinned to the point where the thought of the cold cap was unbearable, so I expect hair D-Day is coming up soon. Gonna do a pre-emptive strike next week, visiting family in Scotland and sister has clippers and is feeling creative.
Don’t regret the cold cap, though. Gave me a bit of acclimatisation time. Becoming a shinehead is definitely a bit of a landmark, and it’s been a hoot working out alternatives. And alternatives I now have a-plenty, including the aforesaid Norwegian flag bandana. And a nice skull and crossbones pirate scarf for those middle-aged delinquent moments…
Have fun, all! And let me know how eyebrow experiments develop…

hi all - not started chemo yet waiting for date. BUT this thread had given me the biggest laugh yet thanks - im not worried about the hair loss and will refer back to this thread
Leesha
Hey you guys
What is it with you. I am soooooooo not going to say the H word, no matter how you try to trick me!!! Lisa guess what day I am on 10 !!! I am going to go out and buy a tube of super glue and put it over my head and when that eventually falls off I am going to have the dog’s hair!!! No more clipping for him he is now my spare body part provider, shame he is not very big and only does ginger and black hair!
He owes me!
Lily x
Bingo - my dog’s colouring (apart from the tad of grey) is similar to mine and he’s falls out at nots, maybe I could sweep his up and save it - snap, he’s is ginger and black too and my hair changes colour (or did!!) on a monthly basis!! Let us know how day 10 goes, Im on day 8 so only a couple behind you!!! Off to superdrug now but the way Ive left my eyebrows they are like bushes just in case some of it decides to stay as could handle it with eyebrows and lashes!! Bet you cant last the day without saying the H word, dont do any tugging or pulling though!!!
xx
Lisa
so you have already secretly stuck the Dennis Healey eyebrows on and have not owned up to it!!! And you are now pretending this is au natural. We’ve got you sussed!
Hope they don’t fall off in your beer
