WHAT A GREAT LAUGH lol Ive just had first epi and got my wig beside me to be honest i can wait to wear it so tempted to shave it off but it would probably just grow back in before falling out again in 10 days or so. so keep up good work havent laughed so much for a long time lmao
Hi
Still keeping tight lipped about H, not tugging, pulling , superglue is in the cupboard. The arrival of 28 various shades of false eyebrows imminent at extra cost for 24 hour delivery, still giving me time to create a new twist on patchwork quilting. This will exactly mimic my H - the no longer dyed real H, latest dyed H, 3 x highlighted H from previous occasions and the strongest bouncy grey H which no doubt will be the only b…rs who survive the chemo to let me sail off in to life again with the worst H ever.
So not long to hold out on saying THE word.
Dog now looks far smarter than me in the H department and is definitely showing off on purpose!

Woops forgot to add something useful!
Read ages ago that someone had got the Johnson or other make holiday skin cream, you know the moisturiser that adds a tiny bit of tan gradually. Anyway she was planning to put that on her bald head to stop it looking so white. You might be able to find the thread. If not first one (step back everyone , well volunteered Lynn) can be a guinea pig and report back

Hiya
Holding onto my dennis eyebrows as long as possible as couldnt find them in superdrug - very tempted to buy some false eyebrows on line as well as eyelashes as hoping to get a girly night out next weekend before next chemo, mind you before long I wont have much real about me - god can you imagine, already make my friends go in front and behind in a crowded pub incase the falsie rubs up against some hunk of a bloke, and belive me you cant miss mine!!! never mind the hair, lashes or brows!!! Thank god smoking has been banned inside pubs or the hair could be in serious problems!!!
Debs - hope you hair grows back now, god Im dreading the brows and lashes most!!
Lynn - congrats on being brave - Im terrified of it but I suppose like everything else we get used to it - think my front door is going to start getting locked earlier so I can whip of all my false bits and relax!!! Its scary cos I wont feel like me and worried how ill it will make me look!
Ooopps was supposed to be a cheery post - night all

Got back from 2nd treatment yesterday and went without the cold cap - what a relief! It (the H word) had got very patchy (or as Jonny Vaughan would say appache hair) so I knew I’d have to cover it up even if it didn’t fall out.
Got my eldest daughter to cut off most of it, probably A no2 cut but as I’ve neither been a skinhead, well up to now, or in the army I don’t know my grades yet. It’s surprising cold without my usual mop so I now feel very sorry for all the men out there who usually have it short or who are bald. Wore one of my soft jersey caps yesterday eve so as not to frighten the cat or the family and will get my buff out today - yep that’s me boasting again!
I expect to lose the rest of it over the next few days and will get my hairdresser to tidy it completely if I need to or give it a good shine.
I’ve told my husband we’re going to test the wig for holding on value by going out in my soft top car with the roof down! He can drive and I can test if wigs do sit tight in winds, will report the highly scientific findings back to you. I’ll keep hold of the ends just in case - can’t afford to lose my false hair as well.
Good luck everyone with all the false things we have to put up with, as ever a good laugh which makes it easier to deal with. Hope the weather improves but if anyone is at a pub over this lovely ‘summer’ and they have the outside heaters on - don’t sit under them - you’ll end up with a frizz! Top tip of the day!
The booklet also contains information about our free ‘HeadStrong’ workshops which explore the many issues faced by people experiencing hair loss which may be available in an area near you, for more details and further support please contact our confidential helpline on 0808 800 6000, Monday to Friday 9am-5pm and Saturday 9am-2pm.
Hi how are we today? More H talk from the cutting edge. Get the pun?
Boring bit is - I’m waiting for the district nurse to visit as a stupid stitch has emerged through one of my wound from the surgery ( over 2 weeks ago) to put the port in. The famous you need a port, that isn’t being used fiasco! Well I am pretty sure that is what it is as it is a thick as fishing wire. It was a bit red and annoying yesterday but calmer today. Not chancing the docs surgery at half term on my immune system low days and they seemed quite happy for me to book myself on her list just to get rid of me. When I look I think I have another one coming out on the actual port wound too. As it goes right into my heart I thought I better not ignore this one and later regret not taking early action. While waiting I am threatening my son to get him out of bed and revise for his GCSEs and looking out for the much awaited eyebrows!!
Nicky you know I am kind of jealous about the no cold cap bit because I could be treated in under 30 mins without it and was there for 6 hours first time. You noticed we have been going totally silly about the H in your noted absence. A quick catch up for you, Dennis (formerly known as Lisa) has secretly been out, bought and glued on false eyebrows and is trying to casually pass them off as naturally thick. She slips it into the thread hoping no-one will notice and twig. SUSSED!! Kojak ( formerly known as Lynn) took the brave decision to go commando, but looks a bit pale so has been coerced into trying out summer sun on her head ( no report received back yet Lynn) and I now have totally death defying H held on with super glue, which attracts flies and other insects. Apart from that not a lot happened.
All in all looking in the mirror I reckon you all have the edge on me when it comes to H
Have fun and take care if fragile.
Lily x
Personally I think it’s all gone to your heads ha ha!
Have been reading the posts and very interested how everyone is getting on, eyebrows, falsies and all!
Hope your stitches situation isn’t too much bother. As you said, all that fuss to get the port in and then not used. Agree you shouldn’t risk the GP surgery especially now at you immune stage. Guess everyone might be a bit concerned if you turned up in a face mask etc.
Take care, shame we can’t see the eyebrows when you model them!
Hey as if I would glue falsies on - good tip about th wig under the sun heaters though!! Nicky hope you doing well! I do think I need to loose about half of my brows mind as they are getting out of hand and are real!!! Good on you nicky for doing the chop!!
Lily hope the stiches get sorted!! Day 10 tug staying firmly in place, doc said today that its likely to happen in next week - boo hoo!!! Good job this thread keeps me laughing about it!
Well been for bloods today on day 10. Heads a shed so cant remember much but I woke up this morning bouncing apart from a major runny nose. After not wanting to part with blood first time it gave in at last. My blood levels okay but the other part to do with bone marrow was slightly lower than anticipated, should be about 1.5 when at best and mine was 0.6?!? Double dutch to me, anyhow she said if I was feeling okay I had maybe passed my lowest point and it would rise up in time for next chemo, fingers crossed. However, she gave me some antibiotics incase I feel unwell at the weekend or start with temperate rather than hospital - Im scared witless to do anything now incase I feel ill, nose is running like a tap. Im bit gutted and weepy as I was so happy and cheery yesterday and was going to my friends for a few alcoholic beverages tonight but worried that I may should stop in and make sure I dont feel ill. In terms of my back pain, which has eased off, she said it could be to do with not enough fluids to help kidneys flush chemo, periods or coming off steroids and maybe indigestion but that they will keep an eye on it and if necessary send me for a scan at some point - Im still so scard that it could have spread already and put me on a total downer - she also said me 2nd chemo could be worse than first - yippee.
Well soz for the mizz post, just hit me as I sat in the chemo suite next to my aunty whos has spread to her liver, scared me, before I was thinking I can handle this, get treatement over and back on with life and now Im terrified that this is my life and will just get worse!
God, how miserable am I being - I’ll come back cheerier and want to know how Kojak gets on and we yet to think up a nickname for Lily!!!
Hope everyone has a nice day as the sun is shining here!

Yes - it’s all gone like a funny quiff on top like bablies get but you can still see the scalp from most angles …
speak soon love FB xxxx PS yebrows under control - they have always had a touch of the “Dennis” - I have to shape and trim - but joy of joys have some white ones now!!! AAAAAAAAAAAGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!
Hi everyone, I so love this follicle fun on this thread.
well it has been very interesting but I am still not mentioning the H word, especially as the district nurse commented favourably on mine. She has to come back and she is going to have to surrender her H if she has jinxed me today. Stitch and a big knot sawn off by the DN and now have to watch area carefully as redder and a bit hard to the touch. I also noticed from all this staring at my chest that I have spots on it - booo. I went into town today to pick out my son’s prom suit to hire and sort leg length, etc, oh my word he looked so handsome and looked like he could be getting married (hope to be there, nearly had the saddest moment but focused hard on enjoying now ) with the suit, waistcoat, ruffle tie, hankie, cuff links, the lot. He is only 16 but obviously going to be abig man, approaching 6 foot now and has one of those long wispy H styles. In fact he has more H than me I noticed! What rubbish timing for even blokes to have long H but that gives me another victim apart from the dog to sneak out with my scissors at night. While in town I was dragged into a shop to buy exorbitantly priced t shirts because they have a blokes name on the front. He would have killed me if I had called him TEDDY! He likes me to react to these things and I had a lot of hugs so it was worth it. Then moved on to superdrug to purchase my own eyebrow stencils ready. Well I have obviously raised your hopes of a solution for nothing. When I picked up the box entitled eyebrow shapers with eyebrow stencils it was exactly the opposite of what we all need! They are like waxing sets you put over bushy eye brows ( only real ones Lisa !!) and then hey presto you peel the sides off and all the extra ones are ripped out of the skin, no doubt at extreme pain levels. On the whole I feel this is not exactly the product we have been searching for! What a chump, sorry. I then added to the occasion by foolishly asking the assistant for these non-existent products that why the hell has someone not invented for us, shall we cash in on this? She being young and happily ignorant of these issues said could I ask why you wanted this product looking at my very obvious black eye brows.Trouble is I forget to act like a cancer victim and just laugh about losing eye brows and I do think I could improve my announcing skills which are not discrete enough. My son will be the best person in the world to have as a friend for anyone unfortunate enough to get BC as he is just in there looking at false eye lashes, rooting through hats and checking H for gaps and even offered to do my injections if I got that trial arm. Well the assistant led me to the eye brow pencils selected the correct colour and gave me a lesson on using the little brush on the end for better effect. So I am going to get apicture of eye brows I like, draw them on cardboard, cut out the eyebrow shape with a sharp knife, leaving a hole to colour in - what do you think? Then I just need to work out getting them level. Stig(formerly known as Nicky) is doing the speed test on wigs, could we encourage to have stick on eye brows at the same time? I have visions of you having to stop the car and run and get your wig before someone runs it over and reports killing a dog! Another dangerous place for wigs is immediately infront of the fan oven when it is hot! Dennis hope you feel ok with your cold, keep us posted, I have written elsewhere on that. Fiz, your mission will be eye brow dye that BC suffereres are safe to use, if that is the next problem.
Hugs

Hiya all
Cant believe Im on at 3.15am, but just got in after a lovely night with bessie mate. Couple of friends for drinks and then me who wasnt having a bevvie decided to end up having just over a bottle of wine to myself but my friend had two so I was being good. First one aided with lemonade lasted hour, 2nd without with pizza and nibbles, tasted yum, the rest is history. Needless to say even after crap day had a lovely night and felt the old Lisa and decided right it aint gonna beat me, Im gonna enjoy myself - even had a play with “the rat” (my wig) and had to wrestle it off my mate as she liked it so much - might have to fork out on the old falsie brows for when Dennis leaves me - seen them on web Lily but not sure if can stick them on when on chemo as couldnt have stick on false other bit!!!
Anyhow after the wine and my low immune bits off to drink lots of water, wallow in my bed then off to a fun day tomorrow with mates and their kids (god so hate the fact I cant have them now). Highlight of tomorrow, Britian got Talent, lowlight, cant decide who to vote for, will have to go for young choirboy as he lives close to me but so much choice… oh the delights!!
Night all, enjoy rest of weekend. Lily, maybe we should patent the eyebrow idea!?!? Stig let us know how the wig sticking goes as petrified of loosing mine, spec. at £200 a shot!!
excuse a newbie butting into this thread but some of the posts have made me laugh out loud and you all get a heartfelt thankyou for that one!!! THANK YOU
Due to lose the unmentioned H in 4 weeks so checking out this thread for hints of how to cope with joys to come… I personally suspect I might look like goodness knows what so checking out a mailorder site that sells head scarves, etc etc and OH caught me furtivly [spelling?]checking out the dennis healey items … and I was most embaressed
You know it’s very depressing but I think I’m showing signs of Chemo brain and I don’t even start the darn stuff until next week… [headcovers dot com does sell the eyebrows/lashes etc and they are inexpensive as are their fringy thingamijigs…I just worry that they’ll fall off…why does no boob not bother me but no hair is a different matter? any way at least I now have some ideas of approaches to the problem… our dog is very furry and a honey blonde… if I want to go dark the neighbours have a Newfoundland cross… and there’s a wolf hound nextdoor but I think grey although distingushed would be a drastic change… what do you reckon?
So far have not experimented going topless in the car - in more ways than one I fear! Am on my post chemo cr*p days so will try it out later this week and report back.
Lisa - glad you had a good time last night - we all need them, just make sure you’ve not got a hangover before you start chemo - now that would be bad! I will be careful with my wig in the car, as you say at over £200 it’s a lot to lose and I was thinking about the poor thing getting run over if it flew off, so we’ll take it easy. I think my husband will be more concerned as he paid for it - looks better on his credit card bill than mine! I think stick on eyebrows over my equally Dennis ones would be a bit OTT so I’ll have to wait that one out until the originals have gone.
I am getting a little concerned about all of you eyeing up yours or your neighbours dogs for replacement hair! Does the RSPCA know of this new threat? I’ll keep an eye out for news of this on the TV when all you ladies are looking glam with your new locks but your pets are looking slightly worn out! And Lily, if your son is already 6ft I suggest you don’t have a go at his hair or at least leave it till after his prom!
Take care everyone, enjoy the weekend and keep away from the innocent dogs - they’ll all be wondering why you’re paying so much attention to them - obviously just feeling the quality of the hair!
Hi everyone and alaskaval, really nice to have someone else joining in our follicly challenged research. Hope it goes really well for you.
Poor old Stig, how are you? What are your worst symptoms at the moment? Hope this all moves away very soon, you sound like you are really coping well and joking too, wow, but please have a major moan when you need to. We are all heading back there again and again. I feel I should send you some Dennis Healeys for that topless drive. Perhaps you could state any colour preference and I will check out the local mutts!!
Lisa, hope you had the best time ever and didn’t have too much of a hangover as payback and a second day ot too, living the life, good for you. Might be worth vegetataing a bit before our second dose next week to get your counts up or they will postpone it. You aren’t working are you? I am quite envious of you social life, where did mine go? When did it go? Why didn’t I notice? I am so sorry about the children part you mentioned, I just assumed everyone would be talked to about saving eggs or other options to give them a choice in the future.
Just watched Britains got talent, I was more interested in Gin’s fur colour and H options than the amazing tricks he does.
Hope you have a good weekend if you can .
Hugs

Not doing too bad, just very tired as not slept well the last few nights plus for a couple of night’s beforehand fretting about the hair drop - but I guess we’ve got that sorted now! Nausea isn’t as bad as last time, if I can remember! However this could be because I was taking one of my anti sickness pills too often having got them muddled up even, though I wrote a chart down! Chemo brain it must be, but what the hell they worked a treat! Just hoping to come round completely as I did last time about day 5. Taking it easy over the weekend - what a waste but it has to be done as have no energy.
Take care, and everyone else on this thread, make the most of this week and hope all goes well later in the week - but don’t think about that now!
Nicky hope the chemo crap days are easing up on you. No hangover at all as paced myself (growing up at last me thinks), chemo isnt until next Wed so planning another night out in our local town on Saturday so hoping the hair stays as is as went and swept up Robson (mut) hair as he casts so much and went and put it in bin instead of saving it!!! Dont inform RSPCA my dog is spit of one of the adverts e and I think they gave him back to the local kennel and they new what a little blighter he was, so they wouldnt want him back!!
Wig is slightly growing on me but dont wanna go in pubs with it - day 12 tugging still in place although less can be said for a certain part of the body where its starting to drop out!!!
Well hoping to rest well this week (maybe a few visits to work, M&S is close by!!) get immune system up, tipple at weekend with girls (enjoy last weekend), then as much water as possible for 4 days, apparently if you drink lots for the few days before as well as duiring and after it helps - dont ask me why!
Well heres to a good and plentiful hair week
xxx
p.s. Lilly - they want to take overies out or hysterectomy after radium as there’s family history quite young - will have to do with all my mates kids and my adorable niece - blocking that part out for now as need to think about me and getting through this bit
xx
p.p.s. has anyone seen cameron diaz - she’s shaven her head for her latest movie and she looks lovely - so unfair, she doesnt need it off and has done the deed and looks so nice - well jeleous!!
x
Hi, hope you are all ok,
(Lisa) Well I admire your spirit and can tell that you will deal with everything as well as you are with the BC. Wish I could wave a wand and give you the choice back though.
I have had to phone the emergency pager again as I have the trots, a temperature and the shivers. I commited the cardinal sin, I ate a takeawy!! No-one told me that I shouldn’t eat one, i have been reading about lots of things on here like mcdonalds and KFC. So learn from my growling stomach and beware. I ate the food on day 11, was ill immediately, like before the last mouthful went down. BC says that is what happens when you are on chemo if someone handling the food had a bug. Does that mean I cannot eat in restaurants? I am doing that most weeks! Then I got better and it attacked again with a temperature today (day 13 oh dear). Have to take 1g paracetamol and report in tomorrow am, depending on how I am might have to see the doc. Was also told today that I should have immodium in the house, I don’t.
Well there is another lesson learnt the hard way!! Sorry serios one this time!
Lily x
Ahh Lily So sorry. I mean that I’m kinda resposible for mentioning the whold KFC thing.
I can’t believe that they didn’t mention immodium to you. Having said that no ones mentioned it to me but picked some up after reading the toptips thread (I think it was that one).
I’ve actually gone even further and bought myself some first defence hand spray (anti bac that lasts for 3 hours) and will be using my steripen. Not a cheap item but got a friend to bring one over from the states (you can buy them here too) so I’ll be using that to sterilise my drinking water (uses UV, a great device IMO, bought for making stream water drinkable but not likely to be climbing any mountains this summer).
Sorry about this being nothing to do with the H word.
Hope the temperature settles down, keep drinking the water.
