Hi, this is the first time for me in this forum, terrified and looking for some answers.
I have a fibrocystic disease since my early 20’s, I am 44yo. I have an annual ultrasound check up on them and I get the breast surgeon to look at it. They change slightly in size and number from year to year. Last year i’ve got 2 of them biopsed and it was as always b9, thanks God.
In this year’s ultrasound check up, the radiologist spotted what they call it a distal acoustic shadowing which was not there in the last year’s images (they always compare) in one of my old fibroadenomas ( with no change in size what so ever from 3 years ago). She advised for a precautionary biopsy on this one. My question is, can fibroadenoma turn to cancer? and what is the possibility if it hasn’t change in size at all? Doesn’t cancer should be growing?
They also spotted another 2 new solid masses in the same right breast which they did not give any suspicious characteristics about them at all, just solid masses.
By the way I am a Mirina user. My GP said Mirina can contribute to the increase of number of fibroadenomas and I have to take it out, but can it incourage breast cancer as well?
Sorry for my long post but I am really worried.
I took the report to my GP as I live in Australia. She felt that the US report was very poorly written and the breast surgeon has to look at the images himself and we’ll go from there.
I should be having an urgent appointment next week to see him, but any advice from you would be highly appreciated
