Hi Vonz,
I’m so sorry to hear what a rough time you are having, I know how scary all of this is. It is especially hard at this time of year. Do you know if you will have results before Christmas?
I do hope that it all turns out to be a false alarm but if you do have secondaries please try to remember and believe that it is not an automatic death sentence. I was dx over 2 years ago and am doing ok and there are others on the forums who had dx 10+ years. We may not be curable but there are treatments out there.
Please let us know your results and do look here for support if you need it, we might not be able to changr things but we do ubderstand.
Sending you strength, Julie x

Hi Vonz,

I have everything crossed that it’s a false alarm. At least your onc sounds on the ball, which is a plus. We need good oncs. If it is indeed a secondary diagnosis you are far better off knowing the facts so you can deal with them. The best thing is to get the treatment you need and not let the little buggers carry on unchecked. I know we’d all rather not hear this, but you are better off knowing. And as JulieD says, you can live with this for years, it just takes a little time to get used to it. I live a very normal life, still work and carry on as before.

Hope you get good news though, and I hope you get that good news before Christmas. Hugs xxx

Thank you i am hoping they will let me know 2 scans to go pn friday hopefully someone will ring me xmas eve, i might have drink in celebration first time in ten years not keen on the taste but will crack open a bottle of champagne Merry Xmas Yvonne xx

Hello Yvonne,
I hope your scans all come back clear. Do you have any pains or other symptoms that have caused the onc to suggest scans? Or is he just very cautious?
I was dx with secondaries in my spine in October, after 2 months of persistent back-ache. After getting my head around the incurable-ness of it (but then there are lots of other incurable things out there), I needed a spot of surgery and my (lovely) surgeon said that it was worth the surgery as it could give me 10. 20 or even 30 years of life out of a wheel-chair (which I would have been in without the surgery).
Sue

Sue, yes i have had aching joints and a headache since i finished radiotherapy and he didnt seem very happy with my masectomy site and collarbone. I have to say he has been a wonderful oncologist he moves with the speed of light on anything, im just hoping he just being extra careful Thank you for telling me your story it makes me a little more positive xx Yvonne

Vonz, I keep my fingers crossed for you! Hope oncologist is just very pro- active.
