Onc and Iscador

I have a question for all the ladies who are on Iscador.
How did your onc react when you told him/her that you were injecting this?

Just bumping this up for you

I am not sure how popular this is in the UK. In Germany (where I come from) it’s used quite frequently alongside “regular” treatment. My mum was treated with ISCADOR after her colon cancer aged 49, she opted out of chemo and is well aged 69 now. It’s not something that is offered on the NHS as far as I am aware.

Thanks for your answer.
My Anthropophose Doctor, happens to be a GP as well and offers it on the NHS. As I do not live where he is I can’t register in his practice.
I heard that it is quite widely used in Germany. I decided to start using it about 2 months prior to my bone met diagnosis. I had symptoms which were being ignored by my own GP, so I decided to give it a go.
It is quite pricey; and I intend to try to convice my GP to provide it on the NHS.
I was however rather surprised when I told my onc I was injecting myself with Iscador, she did not have a clue what I was talking about.

Dear all
You can get iscador on NHS via homeopathic hospital. I get from the royal London homeopathic hosp every 3 months but in drops not injections. I think are other NHS homeopathic hosps around country but not sure. there is a cancer support dept at the UCL royal London and are excellent
Jo

Thanks Jo, I will enquire about homeopathic hospitals.

I was just curious about this post - mistletoe at Christmas… (sorry)

Anyway, just to note, so far as I can tell, there are three NHS homeopathic hospitals in the UK… London, Bristol and Glasgow. As it happens, the one in Glasgow is in the same complex as the specialist cancer hospital (Beatson WoSCC)

LOL, I will kiss under the serynge of …Mistletoe!
Thanks for the info regarding the hospitals.

Dear Vercors

I’ve been injecting myself with Iscador for over 6 years. I have been getting it under prescription from my GP via the Glasgow Homeopathic Hospital. Unfortunately my Primary Care Trust (Forth Valley Health Board) have withdrawn all funding for Homeopathic medicines and although I will be supported for the next two years, I don’t think any new patients will be eligible for funding in Forth Valley. In fact, they won’t even be referred. Other Primary Care Trusts could well be different.

In answer to your question, I don’t tell my Onc. Sad but that’s just how it is. Fortunately, I can talk freely with the Homeopathic Hospital about all the other things I do with regards to my main frame treatment. I can send you a private message if you want to know more. Feel free to ask me further about Iscador.

Best regards.

Jeannie

Thanks Jeannie,
I am quite keen to know more. I don’t know how long I will be able to afford it privately. I really need to bully my GP into prescribing it.
Do you get a break every so often or do you inject 3 times a weeks all year long?

Dear vercors

If I were you I would try and get your GP to agree to sending you to the nearest Homeopathic Hospital. Thereafter, you are in the system and it may be that your Primary Care Trust will be willing to support the costs, If it were me, I would make the GP the first port of call. My Homeopathic Hospital would not have seen me without a GP referral in the first place.

I spent a week-end at the hospital learning how to inject myself. I found the whole process very interesting - and there was one other lady doing exactly the same as myself so it gave me the confidence that I was travelling on the right road. Plus I had been to Bristol Cancer (5 day course) and they didn’t object.

I injected myself every alternate night for 28 nights then I had 7 nights off. I did this for 5 years. I now have the same regime but I have much larger breaks inbetween. This is because I have now been injecting for 6 years. There are three levels of Iscador - Series 0, Series I and Series II. When you first start injecting they look for a reaction - usually a small red mark no bigger than a 50p piece. I did not get this mark until I had got up to the Series II strength hence it may well be that it depends what series you are on as to how often you inject. Although I injected myself every second night for 28 nights, the amount I was injecting got stronger as it came to the end of each cycle. I’ve just found my Guideline book on “Treatment with Iscador in Cancer Therapy” You could try e-mailing Weleda. <script type=“text/javascript”>eval(unescape(‘%64%6f%63%75%6d%65%6e%74%2e%77%72%69%74%65%28%27%3c%61%20%68%72%65%66%3d%22%6d%61%69%6c%74%6f%3a%69%73%63%61%64%6f%72%40%77%65%6c%65%64%61%2e%63%6f%2e%75%6b%22%3e%69%73%63%61%64%6f%72%40%77%65%6c%65%64%61%2e%63%6f%2e%75%6b%3c%2f%61%3e%27%29%3b’))</script>. Their phone no is 0115 9448200. I have a feeling I gave this out to someone who came back to me and said it was for medical professionals only.

Whatever, I am here to help you if you want to know more.
