Oncotype DX Chemo

Going through breast cancer treatment Chemotherapy

Hi, my oncotype DX is over 30. I had a lumpectomy with 1 node removed that is positive 2.5mm. Chemo start 10 weeks after surgery. Is this normal? Anyone else waiting this long? I’ve had no other treatment since surgery.

Same as you, DX 29. Lumpectomy was 28th Jan, then reexcision 4th March, chemo will start 16th May. Have you got dates and had appointments yet?

I am 6 weeks post surgery, I had my results appointment on Monday and was told I needed chemo but not had a date for an oncologist appointment yet. I’m curious to know when chemo will start but from both your posts it seems it can be a while after surgery x

Hi Fancy, chemo starts May 20, I need re-excision first but not offered. Why did you have re-excision?

Hi Twinky, I am 10 weeks post surgery. If chemo is your next treatment then go ahead and ask when. don’t wait. Us with cancer we now rely for our survival on medical ppl so we’re humble, afraid to ask, we wait. Some here are lucky to get in and out in 6 months. I’ve been deceived to the point I’m now getting chest pain, more frequent and serious arrhythmia, unable to sleep and waking up in sweat and I already have signs of infection before I even start chemo.

They didnt get all the margins clear for me. Up until that point it was low grade, lumpectomy and then 1 week radio. Oncologist just tossed in that he’d now be referring for chemo. And that appointment took a few weeks. Then they booked another for consent a few weeks after that. Then 2 nurse appointments this week before chemo tomorrow - Friday. The nerves are extreme. X

Exactly what kellya said - i cannot express how often i bugged the various extension numbers to try and get dates sorted out. The stress of waiting was too much for me. X

My oncology appointment came through this morning :blush: it’s next Tuesday x

My surgery last year was on 23 May. I had my first chemo on 12 August, so 11.5 weeks. My DX score was 24 but as I was HER2 positive, discovered following surgery, I needed to be given Herceptin which has to be administered with chemo to begin with.
