Hi I was diagnosed with grade 2 invasive ductal er/pr positive, HER2 negative breast cancer in June 2024, I had a lumpectomy (right side) with bi lateral breast reduction on the 14th August. The tumour was removed 25mm & good clear margins with no lymph node involvement. I then found out that I had LVI present (lymphovascular invasion). I was told I would probably just need radiotherapy with tamoxifen but my oncotype result has come back as 25 so the hospital called me yesterday & said I would need to have Chemotherapy. I am 43 & haven’t gone through the menopause. Has anyone else had a similar result & how many rounds of chemo did you need etc. thanks
I had a 23 on my oncotype test and although I didn’t have LVI nor node involvement they decided I needed chemo based on my score. I had four rounds of what is called in the states of T/C chemo three weeks apart. It went quick and although it was certainly hard I made a full recovery.
I didnt have oncotype done as I am premenopausal and had lymph node involvement. I am currently having 3 EC and then 3 docetaxel. Each round is 3 weeks apart. So far, it has been not too bad, but i am bald. I’m 47 with 3 kids. A lot of hr+ her2- cancer is treated with this regime. Good luck x
Sorry for the late reply. Thankyou for responding to me. Just thought I would see how your treatment is going. I start chemo this Thursday. I’m having the same as you, 3 EC followed by 3 Docetaxel all 3 weeks apart. Did you use the cold cap? X
Hi @shelbylou81. I didn’t cold cap. I shaved hair off for little princesses charity just after 1st cycle. I found EC pretty easy. The hair loss was ok as I’d shaved first. I decided not to cold cap as I felt I’d rather grow it from scratch, than go patchy.
All the best xx
