One for Jane RA

One for Jane RA At last I have managed to find a copy of Kate Carr’s book. It is, as you suggested, great. I can’t put it down. Halfway through, I’m overwhelmed by the familiarity of her experience. Thanks so much for recommending it. x

seconded… I read Kate Carr’s book after JaneRA mentioned it, and read it cover to cover almost in one sitting. I read the book before knowing I was going to use Cromwell for my rads - and I thought of KateC a lot when I ended up walking the same streets as her. I even recognised some of the landmarks she mentions in her book. I do not think I would not have used the counselling sessions offered by Cromwell if Kate had not put the idea in my head.

Thanks Its always good to know that someone else has ‘enjoyed’ the same book.

I’ve read loads of first hand breast acncer accounts and hers is one which speaks most directly to my own experience. (though the details of our lives are very different: she’s younger than me, had children) To quote her: there are ‘shedloads of rubbish’ out there and Kate Carr’s account is I think a gem amidst the dross. I’ve followed up most of the other books she also recommended and among these Christina Middlemarch Seeing the Crab: A Memoir of Dying before I do…is brilliant (out of print but you can get it through Amazon.)
