Hi there, I am one week after surgery and caught an infection which has made me feel very poorly and my breast is still very sore. I wondered if anyone has had the same and how long it took before they started to feel better. I am taking antibiotics and have never slept so much. Is this normal?
Janet from Launceston
Hi Janet
I am a good bit ahead of you I had same op at the beginning of the year and also got an infection. Once I had the antibiotics the infection settled although it did take about a week. Be kind to yourself and dont expect too much you will be sore for a few weeks but it does get better. Take care x
Hi Janet
I hope you feel better soon, I am due to have my Lumpectomy on 4th Oct and you are the first person I have come across to have been recently diagnosed like myself. Carol
Hi Carole
Just to say I was really concerned on how the scars would be and really pleased on how quickly they heal. You will be tender and yes I now know that you have to take is easy now. I had some nodes removed under a general four weeks ago and thought it would be the same. Good luck with your op and my sister has got hers on the 7th Oct which is strange that we are four weeks apart with treatment. My poor Mother was shocked with the news but my sister said she would have never had herself checked if it was not for me.

I never even thought of the Scars hahahaha, I know mine will be below the nipple on the left side and I’ll have an Indentation, I’m not worried about that as it has to be done, I just wonder how much discomfort it will be, when I can drive again and what type of clothing and bra to wear immediately after the op, normal or really loose hahahaha, strange how the mind works:) I’ll be thinking of your sister on the 7th, it must have been a real shock for your poor mum to hear and thankfully you can support each other, which is lovely…I haven’t told my mum yet, she’s 86 but I will on the 27th Sept after my pre-op and she has had a Bone check, I am a bit worried to tell her as we lost my brother 10 years ago at the age I am now 50 but my cancer is totally different and I can answer any questions and reassure her thats its going to be fine and not life threatening.
Take care and pace yourself to recovery Carol x
