One year cancer free

In March last year I was diagnosed with Inflammatory Breast Cancer. I had chemotherapy first then a year ago today I had a mastectomy and node clearance to remove the remaining tumour. Path results showed that the tumour had reduced to 1.5mm (from 12CM) and no node involvement. I am still having Herceptin and it will be another 4 years until I can feel confident that it won’t return, but for the moment I remain cancer free.

Every day I thank God for the NHS and the fantastic medical team who have treated me over the last 18 months.

I’m back at work and life goes on pretty much as normal for me. Best wishes to all still going through treatment, especially those who haven’t been so lucky and are living with secondaries.

Special thanks to the other ladies with IBC who supported me through the worst times. Jan xx

Great to hear - long may it continue.

I had my mx exactly a year ago today, I had chemo and rads post surgery. I am currently on herceptin as well. I was given the 1 year ok this month. Its brilliant to hear them say we can find nothing.

Hair starting to come back (still too short though). So all is good with my world at the moment

Good wishes to everyone

Bboonie, I went through the GI Jane stage earlier this year too. I hope it grows quickly for you.
