Oophorectomy, Ribo and bladder issues

Hello wise ones,

Wondering if anyone has had similar and if they can shine a light on what I can do to help.

I had an oophorectomy 4 nearly 5 weeks ago (removing both ovaries and tubes). I’m on Anastrozole and ribociclib. On about 6th or 7th cycle of Ribo now I think. Ovaries were shut down over a year with Zolodex till I had my op.

Before my op I remember feeling on a night like I couldn’t empty my bladder properly. Not all the time. Just the odd occasion. Like there’s a little drip. Sometimes I can force a little more out but never feel done. Often in the day i don’t notice as much.

Since my op ive been ok. But last few days ive started getting period pains and then lower back aches. All just numb aches. So I thought maybe urine infection. Went to acute assessment for checks. Dip test showed blood and white blood cells so possibly fighting infection. Bloods all fine. They’ve given me 3 days of antibiotics and waiting for results of urine sample that’s been sent off.

Back and period pains have eased but I think the emptying of bladder is getting worse.

I have had intercourse since my op but just once and about a week before symptoms started.

I don’t know where to start with querying. Is it from the op, have I done too much since (really tried not to). Is it ribo or is this just a fun symptom of menopause???

Any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated.

thank you!!!

Not got personal experience (waiting for oophorectomy after more breast surgery), but suggest looking up the vagina coach - a very knowledgeable on all things pelvic Canadian woman, Kim Vopni. Her website might have some advice. I hope you resolve it.

Thanks so much. I’ve messaged her and she’s told me to see a pelvic floor physio therapist so will look into it next week.

thank you
