orange peel skin, pain after treatment ends

Hi has anyone experienced orange peel skin after chemo and rads , my rads finished in sept 08. Just wondering what is normal and how long it all takes to settle down, still have some pain and heaviness to the breast , the nipple hurts mainly if touched . is it worth contacting bc nurse??

Think its all after effects of the radiotheraphy. It can take years for the pain and tenderness to go - especially on the nipple.I find aloe vera gel really helps, especially with the nipple irritation.

My onc said that the orange peel effect will never totally go, the aloe vera gel is really good to keep the breast supple. I use emu oil which is equally good - some people’s breasts harden up after rads and I was told to keep using the gel or oil for some months afterwards.

I’m nearly 18 months post rads and my breast always looks a bit pink and mottled. I had the hardening as well, it felt like really dense tissue. It has settled down and I only have a little bit under my breast now. The hardening made self examination difficult as I was never sure if I was feeling a lump.

I still have the harding- especially under my arm where I also had radio 4+ yrs later.

Hi there, well i phoned the bc nurse about my painful red breast she suggested see GP, which i did and she is treating me with antibiotics and wants to see me next week!!! she may bring forward my appoint with breast surgeon ? not sure what else he can do, How did i get an infection in it??

Take care all
