Outcome of 3 biopsies

Hi Everyone, after all my biopsy results, I have been informed 2 are high grade solid DCIS and 1 benign, saw the consultant last week who now wants me to have an MRI as she said I have dense breasts. Still no plan yet! Has anyone had similar experience?

Hi, fellow dense breast owner here. Diagnosed with IDC grade 2 after mammo, 3d mammo, ultrasound and biopsy but sent for contrast MRI too (just waiting for results). It was pretty clear from the immagery reports that the main lump - which can be felt on self examination - is hard to see on imagery due to breast density so they want better images.

It has been such a waiting game as the initial biopsy result needed hormone receptivity tests then more time for FISH as the HER2 was inconclusive. Frustrating as I am now 6 weeks from the first ‘we are pretty sure this is cancer’ set of findings, but I am trying to focus on the importance of surgery and treatment plan being based on a full understanding of what is going on.

Back in 2020 when I found a lump I had a mammogram followed by ultrasound before they took a biopsy. The lump everyone could feel was not really visible on the mammogram so I went for an MRI. This did find an extra area for DCIS that hadn’t shown up previously.

It is difficult waiting while all these tests are performed. It is so your doctors get the best possible picture of you to know the right treatment to prescribe.

Last year I had a contrast MRI (pesky dense breasts!). It showed up another tiny blob which they tested but there was disagreement about whether the biopsy was accurate and MDT didn’t agree with the surgeon’s plan to remove it anyway. An expert opinion was sought and they reviewed everything and decided it was accurate and benign so didn’t need to be taken. This all took time, but ultimately meant a lot less tissue needed to be taken and much better outcomes cosmetically. I know it’s really difficult waiting for all these things to be done, but with hindsight I’m glad there were these delays and extra tests etc as it meant I had the right surgery for me. Hang tight. x

Hi, thanks for your reply, the waiting is the worse, good luck with your treatment x

Thank you X

Thank you. Yes totally agree, glad I am having the MRI x
